5.56x45 mm is not available in the civilian market in India. The only manufacturing company for this cartridge in India is the government owned Indian Ordnance Factories. If you are not in India and want to buy these cartridges, then you can contact IOF by getting their contact details from their website.

i want to ask you the same question again, but pertaining to 7.62x39...? is this also available only through iof?

Yes all rifle and all handguns and their cartridges in India are manufactured only by Indian Ordnance Factories in India only. Also shotgun cartridges are mainly manufactured by Indian Ordnance Factories in India besides a few private companies(probably hardly 1 or 2 private companies also manufacture shotgun cartridges under very tight government regulations). There are also few private shotgun manufacturing companies in India but working under very tight government regulations.

The 5.56 NATO or for that matter 7.62x39 isn't sold to civilians, besides there are virtually no guns in the civilian market chambered for these calibres. If you happen to be overseas, IOF ammo is probably the worst in the world - you could definitely do better!
