It's a great knife and congrats on your purchase. I have one too. Don't ask how much I bought it for cause I paid the earth moon and sun!! I had posted some pics on the forum so if they are still there take a look. The only problem with this knife is that it's very un practical to carry around. Draws too much attention and screams "RAMBO". So if you fit the immage that's great or it will end up siting on the lower shelf of your cubord for a long time.

I am curious to know how much u bought it for... Also i want to know how to tie it or fix it on our body or which part of our body (legs, waist) when i am out on treks... The guy i bougt it from has no experience of knives... he just keeps dem... nothing els...

you can carry it on belt, fixed on right side little behind, not so comfortable if you driving a car, best concealed option is to buy or make shoulder strap and carry it up side down on left side (if you are right handed) under T shirt, if you buy little over sized T-shirt knife will be invisible. this kind of carry do not disturb daily routine and do not expose knife in any circumstances, but not the fastest one to deploy.

Congratulations on your new acquisition, a fairly simple tool you can use to sharpen it as Rajat mentioned is the Carbondum stone.

If you want something slicker and portable, you can opt for a Croc Stick Sharpener from Lansky, I had one shipped from the US a couple of years ago and its a great tool. I have used it on my knives as well as on my custom-made hatchet to good effect.

One thing is for sure that its not possible that you will get the same knife again... but yes u may find one Rambo III knife the one with red handle.... i liked that first but then gave it a second thought and got this Jungle Knife...

Prasanjit carrying it strapped to your calf is not a good Idea. It is a large knife and will be very obvious.

For this style of carry, low on the leg, you have the smaller, slimmer "Boot Knives" with a sheath made to support this carry style.

Hi I do need to correct myself . I have the Jungle King 1 (Silver finish) and that's a big boy. The one you have seems much smaller and practical to use. It's very good value at the cost you bought yours. I paid around 9k seven years ago. Knives were very scarce to come by and I would buy anything that came my way back then. Do enjoy using it. The sheath has two metal prongs that fold out. The rubber tube fits on each prong to make a catapult. Enjoy your blade, keep it sharp and clean.

On a serious note, watch a few youtube videos on the subject(there are a dime a dozen). Once you have figured out the basics, grab your kitchen knife(big NO NO if you are married, buy any knife from the market as a substitute) and practice with it. Once you have honed an edge which is up to your satisfaction, consider yourself "blessed" again or "baptised" in the ways of sharpening.Nothing like a DIY experience.

I'd like to add that I have noticed serrated edges on this knife. Be very careful while sharpening them, so as not to wear them out.Take due care to sharpen only on one side of the serrations dont sharpen the back. Do not widen the angle that has already exists.

Now that I have scared you suitably, let me tell you something good about serrated edges: they dont usually need sharpening unless severly worn out. The non-uniformity of the edge is what assists the cut. Try cutting a seat belt type of material with this unsharpened knife of yours try the straight blade part and the serrated blade part alternately and notice what happens.
However if you still want to sharpen the serrations,do so only with a tapered (Lansky Croc stick type) or tubular sharpener(rod type); avoid the standard carbondum stone when serrations are in question.

Prasanjit, make a note of the great advice offered by OUP. Cannot be put in a better way.



If I am not mistaken the only problem now being that the back of the blade is a Saw and these are not the standard serrations and are like the ones many would have seen in the small saw blade in Victorinox knives like on the one hand trekker or the work champ or others. The basic purpose of this saw is cutting wood or any similar material. These are double tooth serrations as I have mentioned above and cannot be sharpened at home well nor will they get blunt easily or require sharpening. Since there are double teeth / two rows of teeth at different positions / angles at both sides so the sharpners do not work. So do not try this at home.
