HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE?
When this question is asked to me!
To much to put on a picture.
I collect only paper and brass shotshells, both the usual centrefire but also pinfire and the occasional Collath shotshell.
Right now I have about 7500 different ones ( and I do not look for shotsizes or caselenght ).
When people would like to see pictures,I would be happy to post some.
From India I have only about three different ones.
The red ones on the top are the paper or plastic??
Regards René

Lucky you. But for us out here, this is not collectors items. These are what I have to use, with 4 shot per month quota.

Re: How much do you have ?
Polman,
Reloading is not legal in India. The components used to reload are illegal to possess apparently.
Indian shooters are allowed to have a very limited quantity of ammunition on hand. I am not quite sure what the limits are in the different categories but I'm sure someone here can enlighten you.

Re: How much do you have ?
Actually reloading is NOT illegal, it is perfectly legal so long as an endorsement is made in the Arms license to procure black powder and caps in the quantity permitted. The problem is there is no availability of smokeless powder and primers in the market and my understanding is that these are not allowed to be imported. Some licensees reload shot shells using the above components. The quantity of ammo permitted per firearm will vary with the requirements of the licensee, Rifle club members may have higher quotas, and competition shooters get even higher quotas etc.

Amit: I dont own a .270. The powershocks could be either .300 WM or .260 Rem. Off hand I wouldnt know, would have to look at the specific boxes since those are the two calibers I have a little federal ammo for.
Shooter will shoot Black Powder on this trip. Need to exercise those weapons as well. Havent shot them in a while.

Re: How much do you have ?
Legal firearm and ammunition ownership in India is governed by a draconian law called Arms Act 1959, which is a repainted version of Arms Act 1878, which was introduced by the British colonial masters of India in order to prevent any "rebellion" by the natives. Unfortunately even though we have become a "democracy" on paper, but the country is still governed by the same colonial mindset among bureaucrats. Over the decades the government has played every possible trick to discourage legal firearm ownership. I will list some of these tricks below:OK, forgive me my ignorance. Is it that hard to get ammo in India??
1) From 1986 civilian import of firearms and ammunition into India, been put in restricted list of EXIM policy. For all practical purposes it is equal to the import been "banned".
2) No legal private manufacturer of rifles, pistols or revolvers exists in this country. Only one government owned company called Indian Ordnance Factories manufactures rifles, pistols and revolvers of shoddy and inconsistent quality. These are the only new arms available to citizens: http://ofbindia.nic.in/index.php?wh=Spo ... ms&lang=en Since IOF is the only firearm manufacturer in this country and import is not allowed, giving IOF a monopoly, it has priced the firearms and ammunition almost 5 to 10 times the price of similar firearms and ammunition in international market. Thus the resulting prices of arms and ammunition are artificially inflated and kept beyond the reach of average Indian.
3) There are some shotgun manufactures in this country making some shotguns and some ammunition within prescribed "quota" and "control" under "license" from government. The quality of shotguns and ammunition is also variable and inconsistent. The number of shotgun manufacturers is almost same(maybe the number has declined) since 1947 when India got independence as new licenses for manufacture are rarely issued. Thus prices of shotguns have also been kept artificially inflated.
4) Even though the courts have declared it to be a citizen's right to obtain arms license, arms licenses are not easily available to citizens since the bureaucrats have almost absolute authority(with no practical accountability to law for doing "anything" under Arms Act 1959 granted by the Section 40 of Arms Act 1959) to grant or delay or decline issue of license. In order to get an arms license issued, either the citizens have to approach the courts to get a writ issued or the citizens have to pull some strings by means of some influence either by contacting some powerful local politician or paying bribes etc. Once the license is issued, on it is also mentioned an arbitrary yearly quota of ammunition the license holder can buy or posses. It can be anything from as little as 5-10 cartridges to around 25 cartridges per year. If you can "convince" them that you "need" a higher yearly quota by virtue of being a sportsman involved in target practice/shooting, you may get a higher quota.
