difference between rim fire and centerfire

what is the difference between centerife and rimfire rifle? Any discripancy in the lincencse?

as above.
You will have to check out your local licencing authority for what THEY consider as relevant in licencing.
You must specify what weapon you want the licence for, in the licence application
E.g .22 rifle
or
315 rifle
.22 is the only rimfire available in India.Others may be of antique historical value.All other rifles are centerfire.

Sudhakar,

The names are the best clue - rimfires have the primer that ignotes the round in the case rim. In a centerfire, there is a separate primer which you can see at the base of the case in the middle, hence centerfire. RImfires are low powered rifles, usually in 22 caliber though in the past there have been rimfires all the way upto 50 caliber, all low powered nevertheless. Centerfire rounds would include everything that goes from 22 Hornet right up to artillery.

Also, pressures have to be kept low in a rimfire design as the rim has to be soft enough to deform under the firing pin. If the case pressures are too high there is the danger of the rim puncturing and the case pressure moving backwards toward the shooter. This is why you do not see anything larger than a 22 anymore.

My application was for a NPB SBBL (Non Prohibited Bore Single Barrel Breech Loading) Rifle and no calibre was specified and that is exactly how it is on my licence - there is no NPB calibre restriction mentioned.
