Nice job Deepak! Keep it up!

expert advice needed
i brought new .315 few months back, it is not picking up rounds from magazine to chamber, rounds which are arranged on right side of magazine got smoothly feed up, problem is with left side lying rounds, any solution please or it has to be taken to local gunsmith?

Re: IOF 315 rifle and cartridge
Finally above problem got solved by local gunsmith, gun has become very smooth,
one more thing i want to share (expert members must be already knowing ), that while putting rimmed cartridges in magazine (as of .315) rim of upper cartridge must lie in front of rim of lower cartridge, to prevent stuck-king of cartridge.

Re: IOF 315 rifle and cartridge
Deepakgunking can you explain how the front base was done?
Did you machine it directly from the ring or was the rail attached by some method? Does the rear base not interfere with loading cartridges into the magazine from the top?
Also if others could post pics of how they attach scopes on their ".315s" it would be nice.
Thanks,
Anand

Re: IOF 315 rifle and cartridge
Origin of the .315 Indian cartridge....Easy...the 8x50R M93 Austro-Hungarian Service Cartridge, manufactured by Kynoch for India (NPB) from 1907 to about 1940; manufactured by Kirkee Factory in 1943-44 for thousands of captured WW I Austrian Booty M95 rifles ( Italian Colonial Africa) after British defeat of Italy in Ethiopia and Horn of Africa in 1941; The Booty from AOI was sent to India as training rifles, and Kirkee manufactured Ball ammo for 6,5mm Carcano, 8x59 Breda MG and 8x50R Austrian Mannlicher.
After Independance, IOB/IOF continued the use of 8x50R ( and copied the original Long, cylindrical round nose Austrian Bullet) for sporting Purposes in a re-bored Ishapore SMLE action rifle. ( sporter wood, of course).
I have a BSA pre-WW I made "8mm Mannlicher (India Express) (LE action) which shoots quite well with Czech made 8x50R military ammo...one day I will get some .315 Indian and try this out in my (Ex India) Rifle...I bought it in Australia in the 1970s, from an export shipment of Indian Sporting Guns to Australia;
Please read my other post on Italian Rifles in Indian service, ( "other Guns" Topic Board) for more detail.

Re: IOF 315 rifle and cartridge
dr.jaya & darashp ,
If you know the art bargaining dealer give IOF 3006 82/83 thou easily .. As of now 30 is available and there is no point to buy 315. You can google and search the ballistic result of both . no good quality ammo for 315 for 30 you have choice. I have seen some people keeping arms in cupboards for 10-20-30 years and so on. for this category "All Is Well". In 2009 my cousion brought a S&W DABBA BANND from orignal impoter.

Re: IOF 315 rifle and cartridge
hi dr jaykumar the price you bought is real one rs 70000 and it is real and the dealer is ready to purchase at 55000 then sell it.you can get brand new for these prices and +5000 you can get rifle made from trachuplly(grant me for spelling)which is good looking than callutta made and barrel is also heavy.its the best offer made by a dealer sell it if you are willing to purchase other bore if you want to stick with 315 then dont sell it because it would have ease out from firing and action would be more smooth than new one.you have lapped your rifle as it is done by firing or bench lapping my advise is dont sell if you want to purchase new 315 and sell if you are going for another bore thanks
