HI,
Is it safe to fire slugs with my WEBLEY&SCOTT sbbl gun?It is 12 bore 2 3/4 chamber choke barrel.

2 3/4 choke??? Surely not. Neither the chamber length ( 2 3/4"), nor shot load it was proofed with, have anything to do with the ability to shoot slugs. And the answer to that question would be "YES".

Generally improved cylinder or cylinder is recommended for slug shooting.
I know people who have shot slugs out of barrels choked tighter than that but those were guns of very recent manufacture.

How old is your Webley and Scott shotgun and what kind of choke is installed in it?

When slugs are fired in a standard, choked barrel, the slug is deformed by the choke as it exits. The degree of deformation is most acute with fuller chokes, which were among the most widely used in stock shotguns up until about 1990. Early shotgun slugs were "rifled" with deformable fins cast into the outside of the soft lead slug, which allowed the slug to swage down to fit the choke. With an open choke, the reduction in diameter is minimal, so accuracy does not suffer much; tighter chokes, however, deform the slug enough to impact accuracy significantly, and the impact of the slug on the choke (at velocities around 450 meters per second (1500 feet per second)) could also stretch the barrel with repeated firings.

Wikipedia is a wiki., written by people. Choked guns may be used to shoot slugs.

I should have been more precise. I personally have shot 3" Mag Remington Foster-type slugs out of a full choked 26" barreled 870 Wingmaster with no ill effects. In fact, a lot of people have done this.
I have no idea if what wikipedia says is true but if you have an older gun, I would err on the side of caution when shooting slugs out of a full choke, especially if the gun is worth a lot.

All modern slugs are made to be shot from any choke, unless it specifically warns not to on the box. (India?) Accuracy is usually not the best from a full choke. The warning would be appropriate with hard-cast round ball of full bore diameter. In any case, Foster type slugs are considerably smaller than bore diameter. Ammunition companies like to play it safe. An "oops" can get expensive.
As to Wiki, I can only emphasize what "shooter" said. The Brittanica it ain't. Any idiot can post his wisdom on it.

HI,
1) I don't know how to find out it's date of manufacturing and even i do not know type of choke in it I am intrested to know the date of manufacturing and type of choke. What is the procedure to find out that.The gun barrel has "12c , 2 3/4 chamber, choke, nitro proof, 1 1/4 oz ,bv,bp,np and it bears the number 885 underneath the barrel.
2)we have agriculture land surrounded by forest on three sides and so we are facing the problem of WILD BOARS heavily.What type of catridge should i use to kill them(or)scare them away.

Now things are getting tricky. With hunting prohibited in India, no responsible forum member will give you the advice you are asking for. Do you have permission to shoot wild boar because of crop damage? If not, you are breaking the law. To scare them away you'd have to use special non-lethal rounds with plastic projectiles, probably not available in India. And for them to do much good, you have to be close to that wild boar. Who may take offense at being treated in that manner.

Check with your local Forest office and invite him to check the damage.
once that is done take their approval and dispose off them "humanely"
