Thanks Arshad and Ali am trying to get hold of records from Rigbys but they haven't replied yet .Will post history asap. But did have a chat with a knowledgeable gent and he did notice a crown and a roman 5 on the rifle as part of the proof marks and that probably signifies the perod this gun was built in and the royal patent granted by....king George the 5th we thought. Still lets see what rigbys replies and then i will share more on this rifle with everyone.
Cheers

I wonder if we all can get together and organise a "CLASSIC DOUBLES" competetion so we can get to warm the barrels of these beauties?

That is a gorgeous double and a great classic .Wow must be fun shooting ...i'm imagining the deep push one gets on these well made and superbly balanced doubles when one pulls the trigger and the resonating boom of the cordite ammo.......heavenly.

Which Rigby's have you written to? Is it the London J.Robertson's who own the Rigby name for UK or the Cali outfit? I suggest writing to the former as I heard it's them who who keeps the records.

Writing to Geoff Miller wont help because he doesn't have the records nor does Paul Roberts,When John Rigby &Co. was sold in 1997 the eX -owner Neil Gibson of Texas didn't sell the records and archives to Geoff Miller and the "new John Rigby" with Neil Gibson and Terry Wieland are trying to sort out the records ,Its got almost 40,000 pages and different handwriting etc,It is not an easy job.It might be sometime before they have sorted it out
