IFG Website Suggestions/ Issues

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

We had a section called "Knowledge Base" where all relevant articles etc were posted. Now, we have stickies in each section that deal with important issues. Notifications etc, can be uploaded as PDF files into relevant sections. But, if you folks prefer a seperate section called "Knowledge Base" to post them, that can be done by requesting the Admin.

Can we have some specifics please as to what exactly goes in there? At the moment,as said above, you do have various important topics as stickies in relevant sections.

Best-
Vikram

It can either be uploaded in Resources/Knowledge or Resources/Downloads. Basically, it will contain legal documents like scans of RTI's that we are doing(Once the successful reply for the RTI has been received), links to various govt. rulings, notifications, license forms and any other info. related to Guns / air guns in India. The same can be kept exclusive for members only or can be viewed by guests.

Decide a POC for this, all the docs/links can go to the POC, who after consulting with Sys Admin and Moderators will approve it and upload it for community use.

Every few months old for sale/ wanted posts get moved to the "trash can" (pending final deletion) and topics in the trash can are not publicly viewable, which is why you cannot view the topic you have listed above...

Presently it takes two clicks to go to the ""For Sale" section which can be exasperating on slow connections. Wonder if it would be possible to cut down one step by placing all three sub-menus, that is, the For Sale, Wanted and Feedback in the opening page/pane/tab/whatever it is called. It used to be there in the earlier version/format of the IFG.

It has been observed that one my my recent published topic[ about adult air rifle which soon to be rlaeased by target tune india] was deleted almost instantly after the publition on site.....can i know the reason.....?edited - moderator
''let us act democraticaly rather than monopolic...''
And
can you please give updates [thread will be fine] the recent amendments of wild life protection act 1972. to educate people like me who has faced warning due to this outdated knoweldge....it will be helpful to avoid the law braking of forum in future.

RanJith Raghavan.

Ranjith: Have you read the Announcements forum? If not, may I direct your attention to this thread in that forum: Ban on Tirths? You will note that Vikram gave a thorough explanation on this matter. Evidently, it was not enough for someone, and you can see my intervention, which simply repeats the announcement Vikram made. You will note that I locked that thread to indicate that the subject was closed. That is your answer on that subject, and this will be the only reply given on this matter.

I should like to offer you some information that you may find helpful for ensuring your continued access to your privileges here at IFG: While the moderator team does all in our power to make IFG a pleasant and informative place for enthusiasts to discuss guns, it is a privately supported site and, as such, is not a democracy. Your rights extend as far as the moderator team permits, and your yellow card is an indication that you have reached the boundaries of permissible behavior. There is a saying that goes: "A word to the wise is sufficient." I sincerely hope that you will continue to enjoy your privileges on IFG. Thank you. the moderator.
