Get the latest copy of India Today.There is a 2 page article on the new Arms Policy and the amendment to the Act.The most accurate coverage so far on the issue and pretty positive as well.Do go and buy it.

I am wondering how shameless the NRAI is? They have not even blinked an eyelid. They choose to keep mum about the issue as if they are ignorant and unaware of it. It is disgusting that The National Rifle Association of India is not even making a fake attempt to fight for the gun owners rights or even the sport of shooting. I dont know how they justify themselves and what is the reason for their existence. This is a body that has done nothing for any of the causes and missions that were the very reason for it to have been formed.
We the citizens had to come up with NAGRI should be enough of a wake up call for them.....

You may be angry as to the lack of any reaction from the NRAI, with regard to the recent proposed policy. Do remember that there were some accounting/ tax irregularities that were brought up recently with regard to the NRAI, so they have been indirectly made to shut up is all I can presume!

While the NRAI may have not directly opposed any negative changes earlier, they have kept themselves an avenue open for its members(however small the benefits) in the form of additional arms, increased ammo quotas, no deposit during elections and all India validity for its members etc.

Manmohan is believed to have shrugged and said that the Home Minister had some persuasive arguments to limit gun licences.

What a Prime Minister! Easily gets persuaded to violate the fundamental rights guaranteed by our Constitution!

Chidambaram has trained his guns on the Arms Act ostensibly because he believes State Governments may be issuing arms licences liberally.

This is pure nonsense and farthest from truth. Instead the state governments are using the issue of "licenses", as a bargaining tool for other goals like vasectomies etc.

"Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district has just 500 gun licences whereas Gurgaon, which is the size of just one of its tehsils, has over 10,000 arms licences," says a district magistrate in Haryana

So where is the problem if people of particular part of the country respect and value their Constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights?

Gun ownership is an emotive issue, especially in north India where these are flaunted as status symbols and fired at weddings.

In my opinion it is not just an emotive issue but also a Constitutional issue about rights guaranteed under part 3 of Constitution. These rights have been guaranteed for this very reason, that these rights are the ones that a violated most of the time by most oppressive governments, hence been guaranteed by the Constitution.

Districts in Madhya Pradesh have promised to fast-track gun licences as an incentive for vasectomy.

This clearly proves that the Constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights have been abused to such an extent by executive that they are now using the issue of "licenses" for the same, as a bargaining tool for other goals.

I'd say he believes in the ability of his ministers, specially this one. And he has done a good job, not doubts.
But it is better to lend ears to others so you see the other side of the story. Your best man can't be right always Only that much is what the PM has to understand I think.

He thinks ?? .. If true, what kind of approach is that, to amend an Arms act .. he thinks !! .. wow

Another faltered logic, why go after size of district .. this is no land deal people. Why not look at the category in which the cities fit in (another city of India vs. cosmopolitan NCR region). Why not count the no. of civilians huh ??
