Post by don » Thu Aug 26, 2010 2:59 pm

Dear friends
Can some one have a correct information how to import a hand gun (both PB and NPB) cause the prices in India with compare to other countries is almost 10 to 20 times higher, I think taxes should not that much high. I have my bro in USA and he can send me the weapon at very reasonable price. My NPB license is under process and i will get it in few weeks. one of my other friend have a PB license and he also need the same info.

Dear friend, I have checked that too, But i didn't get the clarity, can u please give me the link where u have checked in legal section, and if u know, just give me which licenses i required to import that NPB for me and PB for my friend.
I have checked this post from legal section http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2779
here is creating so many confusions like one some one says bringing as sea, land or air is prohibited, some one says if we have license in origin country and India it is legal to bring, and one says it is possible in two ways one is Under 'Transfer of Residence (TR) Rules', and 'By a "Renowned shot"'

So please let me know the only following information,
1. Is importing fire arms is legal or not? ( if it is illegal no need for further info, and it may not illegal cause many people kept so many imported arms in sale section)
2. My brother can send me the NPB and PB through courier, for these 2 purpose which licenses we need?
3. Which bills and documents i need from my brother from USA?

Are you serious? There is no legal way of your brother sending you a firearm from the US. You can import one by becoming a renowned shot in center fire pistol but even then it has to be a target model handgun. Moreover, a lot of time, dedication and money is required to attain a renowned shot status, not to mention a little bit of talent.

Dear Don

The long and short of it... You CANNOT Import firearms into India! :D

The only way you can is if on a transfer of residence... even then the weapon CANNOT be transferred to anyone during the lifetime of the weapon or the person.

The details you seek are right there - currently the very first thread in the Legal section - http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2779 (please look at the second post in particular)

Import of arms & ammunition is on the negative import list in the EXIM (export & import) policy which is a part of the union budget tabled before the parliament every year. Only renowned shots and under transfer of residence it is allowed(with lots of conditions). For all of us practically there are only two choices, either keep quiet, suffer in silence from this policy or join NAGRI and fight for our rights.

May be all of you are right boss, for this reason in India illegal arms are more than legal arms, Thanks for all posted your valuable suggestions. Can any one suggest me what documents are required to import a blank firing pistol or revolver from USA?
