5 Ridiculous Gun Myths Everyone Believes

“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense” — Winston Churchill, Oct 29, 1941

Hollywood shows some restraint with revolvers--usually no more than 10 or 11 shots per six-shot cylinder--but damn, do they go hog-wild with anything that fires full-auto. So much so that that most of us have wound up with an utterly ridiculous concept of how those guns work. They're seriously depicting these things firing a hundred times more bullets than they can actually hold.
ROTFL

Great piece there, xl. Thanks for sharing.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Also while shooting it is cool enough to hold the barrel, especially FA.

You want more gun control? Use both hands!

I would love to see one of these chaps try to hold a bren gun from it's barrel after a couple of magazines down the tube.A belt fed machine gun after a couple of belts fired would be even more fun.

Just loved this one.
Thanks xl_target.
I have always been amazed at how all the bad guys in our Bollywood movies miss their target everytime, irrespective of how lethal their weapons may look and how our very own "action hero" is always on the mark with his .32 bore pistol / revolver ...........firing endlessly and shooting down one man with every bullet.

ROTFL ROTFL
Not to forget Bollywood.... I remember an old daku movie, wherein the heroine, with a DBBL shotgun, fires backwards, one handed, while on horseback (the horse is actually galloping through Chambal ki ghatis), accurately enough for 1 bullet 1 kill (at a fair distance), and continuously, without reloading.... now that's so many myths!!!
Cheers!

what you refer to Prashant, is called the "stormtrooper effect". Based on the Star War films, where rookies like Luke Skywalker would bring down an entire platoon of villians, while supposedly professional stormtroopers could never manage to hit the heroes despite throwing a barrage of fire
