Post by rajesh.naruka » Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:13 am

Hi everybody,
Can anybody tell me that is there any difference between a SAF Kanpur .32 Revolver and others available at different Ordinance factories in terms of make, material, quality and price.
I am going to purchase one in a short period, please advice me soon.

Rajesh go through IOF.32 revolver thread, each and every aspect had been discussed in detail . You will get all the answers regarding your query. There are some other threads also where this subject has been touched , they all are present in Handgun section of IFG. Wish you best of luck in your hunt.

Regards

Dear Grewal,
I have gone through all the threads but I didn't got what I am searching for. In simple .32 Revolver at Ord Fac Chandigarh is costing 78K and at SAF Kanpur 84K due to tax difference. I wanna know that is both the revolvers are same or manufactured differently because I heard from many that the revolver from SAF Kanpur is the best.
Regards.
Rajesh.

Hi Rajesh,

I have just booked one revolver at Muradnagar Factory but they will bring in the revolver from SAF Kanpur and give delivery at Muradnagar. The Chandigarh factory will also bring the SAF Kanpur Revolver and give delivery only. These factories are just facilitating agencies so that people do not have to travel to Kanpur for delivery. Still if you have doubts, please visit the fieldgunindia.gov.in and call the marketing cell of these factories to clear the same.

The taxes are state subject and each state levy its own. Chandigarh is a UT and they have less taxes than other states. Better to buy the revolver at Chandigarh.

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers

Paddy

Dear Paddy,
thanks for your good advice and I will clear it from the marketing section. Because I contacted Ambajhari factory and they told me that there revolver is better than the kanpur one, so I got the doubt. Anyway let us see if somebody else comes up with something.

Rajesh it seems you are really really confused. How can you get a revolver from Chandigarh. Since you are in Gwalior , it will be wise to get it from Kanpur. Field Gun Factory made revolver is the finest Indian made revolver (currently being manufactured in India). And from your response I can make out you have not tried to read the other posts in handgun section otherwise you might not have been saying

So leave this ambajhari stuff and get yourself a .32 Field Gun Factory Mark 3 , 2010 model.

Go for FGK's Mark 3. Also the waiting period at FGK is around 35 days whereas in other factories like one situated in Chandigarh it is around 1 year. So dont go after difference in price.

Grewal Paji,
Any opinion about revolver made at Machine Tool Factory, Ambernath, Maharashtra?
Revolvers are made at
1) SAF Kanpur
2) FGK Kanpur
3) MTF Ambernath

Which one is the best among all from Quality and Reliability point of view?

Dear Friends,
As I received some information that within few month Government of Indian is lifting the restriction of Import of a Foreign Made Weapons of NPB, for a period of One Years, so I hope that the peoples will import the weapons such as Revolver & Pistols from USA , Germany.
If the people have the passions they may get the Brand-New Weapons on the half price of IOB Pistols/ Revolvers plus the customs Duty.

Have handle both revolvers made in Kanpur as well as Ambernath. The Kanpur one is better finished, not that it's world class, but it's better of the two.

hdn,

You've been asked before and I am asking again, who is your source?? Have you seen any paper from MHA which confirms the same?? Please don't post gossip over such a matter, it's a request.

diskaon, there is no such credible information till now.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
