Hello Trini,
The pistol when aimed at the target may be at variable height, what is important is whether, the point of aim (while doing dry) should also be i40 cms from the ground. If you are generally aiming at a blank wall, at 170 cms or higher, obviously, your muscles, of your back, shoulder and arms are used to holding at point of aim 170 cms. When you switch to a a standard target, then you switch to aiming lower (140cm), thus changing the angle of the load, for which your muscles are not used to holding, hence you will not be able to hold steadily for a greater interval of time (10-12 secs).

ok hvj here goes
i could do only a 337 out of 400 in the first shoot after the vacation with a best of 89. Need to go back to Fig 8s i guess?
dev seems to be shooting 10 shots to a tgt. should i do that in the prac shoot. or should i change tgts like the real match?
how does one keep a track of the SA% in a live shoot with changing tgts. cause if i start recording SA in the box pattern my time plg goes for a six
can one determine the SA% from the shot pattern/ score?
guess as usual i have a lot of questions. did a live shoot today.and really tried to conc and keep the thoughts only to shooting. marked improvement. todays score is 353/400. with a best of 91. still need advice on how to keep the thoughts still. hope this improvement is not a flash in the pan as dev has said

You are now ready for the next lesson, which will help improve your focus, please be patient , I will post it shortly.

Yes 5 or 10 shots is okay, though at times , if the target paper is not stiff, then it get ragged around the edges, making it difficult ot guage shots.

It is not too dfficult, provided you keep the notebook and pen close within reach and make small tickmarks.

Questions are always welcome, have you started following the 3 shot cycle? If you concentrate on each and every step of the shot cycle, where is the question of the mind straying? If it still does, then obviously you are not concentrating on each and every step of the shot cycle closely.

Dev Ole Chap,
One of the reasons it is not going up is the fact that you believe it is a flash in the pan. If the mine can produce a nugget of gold, then obviously the vein exists. Believe in this fact. Believe that your subconscious mind knows how to shoot a 10 and that it can repeat this more often. Write this down 10 times a day and see the difference.

hey hvj
as i said yesterday id a live shoot yesterday .and really tried to conc and keep the thoughts only to shooting. marked improvement. score was 353/400. with a best of 91. made me really happy.
i will take ur advice and keep the shooting to five a tgt as the tgt gets to be shredded in 10 and then difficult to judge especially the 9s and 10s. will try to keep a SA% data in next live shoot. lets see how i can do. u have said about a 3 shot routine. i didnt see this before. did i miss it during my vac. can u rpt pl.
must confess though that after the improvement in the last shoot i was on cloud nine and folks home found it funny that i was in such high spirits over a mundane issue of shooting pellets in a piece of paper

Hey Jitu,

Using a used target behind the fresh one will give you cleaner holes. That way you will be able to see each 9, 10 clearly. Don't need to see anything else :D . Yes it is amazing how mood altering a good score is, really strange but true.

hey hvj
had another shooting session. just to check whether the improvement was a fluke. did not score as much as last time but close enough to be happy. shot 90,86,90,85. total of 351. may be two pts down but i feel more confident of keeping the thoughts under control. at least it is convincing me that it was not a fluke last time. now will work harder to improve. will see the lesson indicated by u and follow.
dev, u r right it is certainly mood altering

Have you met the cheeeken feeengar syndrome yet?
That is what knocks the score down to 85 from a potential 90.

Hello Jitu,
This is a very encouraging performance, speaks volumes of your dedication and single minded follow up on the lessons that I have been writing here. Even though these scores are in practice, still, that is remarkable improvement.
Hello Dev,
Do not discuss cheeeken feeenger syndrome. Discussing negative things wil only invite more of the same onto yourself as well as the reader. Thankfully not the coach. :D
Regards to you both.
