Lion charge

This is a clip sent by Grumps. It's an old clip on rounds on net for sometime.It's a canned hunt and you can see fence posts in the background.There is nothing sporting in this "hunt". Ladies and gentlemen, honour and dignity walked on four legs that day and the only heart that showed it's strength beat in that noble big kitty.

I have never hunted lions nor,in all probability, be in the happy position to hunt one.I am not an expert on lions.So I may be making a fool of myself but this is what I feel.

The lion seems to have been bred in captivity.Hence did not know how to bring down it's foe/food.Notice the way the lion charged( in slow motion). The charge was off target and the lion did not seem to be in a position to use it's teeth and claws. Had this been a wild lion,I don't think the man would have been alive.

Considering that the lion was not going anywhere(being in a fenced area) messing up the first shot should have been reason enough for the man (will not call him a hunter)to feel ashamed rather than celebrating afterwards.The fellows shooting at him could not connect when the lion was charging(I counted three missed shots) and could only bring him down when the lion was running away.The last shot was not required and only meant to emphasise that the lion had been disposed off by the fellow who paid for the entire thing.

The fellow should have realised by now that open sights work best at such short ranges.Telscopes be damned.

I feel the lion deserved to have taken the fellow along with him

The fellows deserve a public flogging along with the PH from Assam

The hunters were not talented... i think this was their first lion hunt. All the best to these canned hunters. May God give them some brains.

What a shame-I heard that visiting indian businessmen and movie stars also show their machismo ewith canned hunts like these in SA.

IMHO the lion could not get hold of the hunter due to the last shot the ph (pro hunter) fires, if you look at the slow mo you can see blood slowly appear in the shoulder region from the bullet exit wound. Not sure if there are three missed shots during the charge, bullets can travel through & kick up dust.

Quite a few experienced hunter & ph's have mentioned that one has to brain or hit the cns (central nervous system) to stop a charging beast... not a task for the faint hearted..

With dangerous game, its not a bad idea to put in a final shot. "Its the dead one that get up & get you"
