Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Hello to m24 and Jitu sati .Great to be here. All help welcomed.
Hi also to hvj1 .All is well i hope.
Observation--re gripping the pistol.
When i gripthe pistol with a firm grip ,the front sight rises.
With the girm grip when the shot breakes it tends to deviate.I don't know if it is because of the tension in the HAND OR THE ARM that is causing this.
I also feellike the weightof the pistolis being borne by the trigger finger. The finger dosn't feel free to move independently.
However when i take a light grip, with the weight of the pistol resting on the middle finger, the trigger finger is a lot more free to move .
The grouping is a lot better but as soon as i get some strays 7+8 's i revert to the firm gripping an effort to take control.
PLEASE ADVISE.
INREFRENCETO THE 8's
Ihave done 8's before using 2KG weights. Is this any good or should i use the pistol for same.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Hello Trini,
1. Is your wrist locked when gripping the pistol?
2. Your pistol grip can be adjusted, please re read gripping and pistol grip adjustment.
3. When you say you grip the pistol firmly, the shot deviates, if so in which direction, always right? always left?
Regards

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hi hvj1. re: your last. sometimes while at the point of aim.The front of the pistol would kick/jump upward, tothe right at 1-2 o'clock. The shot would also break in that direction as well.

Hello Trini,
Regarding fig. 8s , good going. Have you read the gripping lessons and the grip follow through. These have to be mastered. I think your wrist is not locked correctly, hence the jerk, which is more mental. That is a bad habit has formed, which the fig of 8 should improve.

Hi hvj1.In reference to the pistol jerking upward at 1and 2 o'clock. This was happening before i joined this group and being under your guidence.I have not shot any live rounds since joining.I have been concentrating on the 8's.

SIGHT ADJUSTMMENTS---When i bring the pistol up into the aim the front sight sits on the right side within the rear sight. After holding for a couple seconds .Theisght would move more to the center.Even with the useof the adjustment within the grip. The above still takes place PLEASE ADVISE.

Hello Trini,
Your trigger finger placement while sqeezing the trigger, MUST be ALWAYS, back towards yourself along the line of of the barrel.
Please check that the trigger shoe, is perfectly perpendicular to the barrel line , (i.e. the face of the trigger where you place your trigger finger)and not canted.
Please check these out and let me know,if the problem persists.

hey hvj. my first shoot after the big break was not exactly something to write home about. Could just score 337/400.best 10 being 89. need an advice how does one maintain a record of the SA% during a live timed shoot. because if i start writing down the SA as per the box drill the time plg goes for a six. advice pl

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hi hvj1 and jitu,
still stuck at the same score, haven"t been training much. why is it that just when you feel that you have got the right trigger control, you go down the drain again? haven't been able to do figure eights due to shoulder cuff hassles. working on shooting faster...works great for a day and then in the next practice session the trigger feels as it is 500 kilograms instead of grams. ah well back to practice again.
never say die
