I am from chennai. This place is very informative. I would like to buy a automatic blank. Can some one advice me where to buy one in India. I have seen them overseas but importing is difficult lot of formalities.

There is one guy I know who has a fantastic collection of Blank Guns. He is an arms dealer from Moradabad and his name is Arshad Ahmed. He is also a member of I.F.G. . He can also arrange the permit for you (which I think , comes from Mumbai). On I.F.G. he calls himself arshad_ahmad48.

IMHO a blank gun if not being used as a movie prop or as a framed display or maybe part of a collection is a trouble maker. it could get you into a lot of trouble with the law as well as get you killed. the legal impliction is great and especially can be twisted twisted by cops .. it can be easily proven and one may be accused of ... that it was used to threaten and commit a crime. heaven forbid u display it or pull it out in a conflict to diffuse an altercation and the other person is armed you my friend will be shot..... so make your choice... never have it on you as a means of protection or self deffence.

I have been following what my dad taught me firearms" means arms of any description which can discharge a projectile or fire a P Cap. So I always treated the Blank Guns as firearms and thought they came in the grey area(since no one had any information about them) Tried searching for the word Blank guns in the arms act but never found anything . Tried getting information from, my customs agent if we could import these and after all the running around ended up with a simple answer "NO"

My dad also taught me the same and I also enquired from one of my classmate, who being and IAS was posted as Dy. Director DGFT and his verdict too was NO to imports of balnk guns.
