Cool. I thought the 6.5x52 was the Carcano cartridge. Evidently not.
How do you select the rifle barrel?

Sudesh, Happy for you that you can get ammo for this beautiful gun. Could you please tell us the maker's name? If possible a few pictures of the proofmarks? Thank you.

Simson. Late 1800's German company.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Unless I am mistaken, there was more than one maker that used the name Simson. The history of European gun manufacturing has several such interesting asides... the proofs/ other marks would definitely be of interest. It is a very interesting piece and I am sure Sudesh would like to trace it's history as well :) The IGC is a great place for finding such info, but I haven't visited in over 4 years and in fact I've even forgotten my log-ins there! :(

Cheers!

Proofmarks will be very welcome.

Further to the rather interesting Drilling sudesh has picked up, some of you may want to check out the Famars Rombo, it's a vierling i.e. a 4-barreled shotgun (only available in 28 & .410 gauge).

Some rather interesting configurations (Drilling, Vierling and funfling) seem to be also available at http://hoferwaffen.com/hofer_52.php?lang=en ;)

Cheers!

Funfling  Looks like the boring machine lost track there...Taking care of one barrel in one gun is a pain. One would have to hire Facility services for something like a Funfling.

And Too much metal engravings for my liking.
