Only 131 gr shot of 6.5x57mm is available in indian market. Though its a medium bore rifle but it has a great stopping power. I love playing with this toy.

Danish,

That is a beautiful rifle and a very valuable one. I doubt there were more than 20,000 ZG 47s built. There are collectors in the USA and Canada who will buy up every one that comes up on sale.

The double set triggers are also a good touch on a small bore rifle that would be used for very precise shooting.

Very, very nice! 8)

Danish,

Do let me know by Pm or post on the For Sale boards with prices. Not sure anyone would like to buy one and bring it to the US but I do know someone who might be interested in India itself.

These are very good rifles and one in mint condition would be very nice to own indeed!

This is a beautiful rifle. Look forward to try it when I come to Allahabad next, next is indeed aquestion for my last visit to Allahabad was in 1992.

Do you have a scope on it yet ?

As for doubles, yes I have had the opportunity to fire a .22 Hornet Double Rifle in Rewa. The Maharaja even had a .22 LR double with an ejector ! imagine a spring sensitive weight based ejector ejecting a .22 LR empty shell. A very rare weapon this is now with one of his relatives in Shahdol , Madhya Pradesh.

The .275 is a very sweet rifle, good weight with a 173 grain bullet and the medium velocity delivers a very goos stopping power and a reasonable hydostatic shock for any game pto a large Indian Blue Bull on ranges upto 150 yards. It has always been a great great rifle for Indian conditions. The .275 ( 7 x 57 ) Mauser or John Rigby, Westley Richards, BRNO, most of these rifles were simply terrific.

The 6.5 x 57, I have my reservations. Perhaps in the .243 Win class. I am always an advocate of slight overgunning than undergunning. I am not sure about its cabablities to deal with any game over Cheetal or Black buck size. Till here it is sufficient. But for an adult Blue Bull Male, unless the placement is very accurate, the beast has a fair chance of getting away.

I don't want to spoil its originality by attaching a scope on this beauty.
