Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower
Happy Independence Day to fellow American members on the forum.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Thank you very much, gentlemen!
Regarding Deepak's quotation of Dwight Eisenhower, I would note two things: First, that the quote applies to all men and nations everywhere, and that this same truth has also been expressed by others:
We believe, as Mahatma Gandhi taught, that rights flow from duty well done.

MoA:
This may seem a trifle strange, but Gail and I are just lounging at home today. Gail's Dad passed away two weeks ago, and you may have noticed that I have been missing for a week, until recently. However, on the way back home, Gail and I decided to take the route back through Yellowstone National Park. We both have a lot of memories there since our childhood, and it worked out to be a very therapeutic trip. Of course, even though this route was fewer miles, it did take longer (travel in the Park is slow), but it was worth it.
Vikram and Deepak have seen the pictures and I will post them here within a week or so. You all have been very kind to share the magnificent and very interesting pictures of India's beautiful sights and parks. I want to get these up for you all as a small repayment for the pleasure and dreams you all here at IFG have given to me.

Went to a church 4 of July barbeque, then to my sister's to view a big fireworks display in a park. I presume you may see the big fireworks displays and parades on TV, but, in fact, every small town and township across the nation has its own individual celebration and fireworks display as well. Patriotic songs and dress are the order of the day. My wife wore an Operation Iraqi Freedom shirt our nephew brought back from his second tour of duty in Iraq (Marine, light attack helicopter squadron).
A fine 4th of July . Our national birthday and day of remembrance combined.
