Re: how to smoothly import .177cal air rifle - guidelines
yes it is but ur mother has to declare it at the airport in us. My parents bought an air pistol from uk and they had to declare at the uk airport and rest went smoothly. Importing a airpistol is not a hassle as importing airrifle is. Ur mother has to declare it at the airport and ask the airlines weather its allowed in the plane. Ur mother shouldnt keep it in the hand baggage rather in the check in luggage. It would be better if she has an invoice of the seller of the pistol stating that its .177 and bla bla bla......because thats what they see.

Had contacted Doon Sports Institiute for annual membership to import an a irgun-was told by the chap there that you cant import a airrifle on a annual rifle club membership-it has to be a life membership-is it correct bcoz the respective cost difrence is high Rs 2000 vs Rs 15,000

you should read once more first posts in this thread, everything what is written there is required.andy_65_in wrote:hi anyone who can throw light on my early query ie whether a annual rifle club membership will suffice for airgun import
you need not only membership (life membership better of course), also you have to be active shooter participating in shooting competitions. BE sure custom will ask you for this kind of letter, describing you as active competition shooter, from your club. import of .177 air guns is import tax free for those who engaged in target shooting, so custom want to know if you qualify for import tax exemption or not.
if you are not ready with documents, you have good chances that your weapon will be detained by custom.

Re: how to smoothly import .177cal air rifle - guidelines
Sirs,
I recently tried importing a Diana 48, .177 caliber without any accessories, I booked through Natchez shooters and the same was promptly despatched, how ever the consignment got stuck at Singapore due to some export restrictions there. UPS the carrier kept making me go round and round with no clear reply and finally Natchez shooters have offered to rentire amount incl the courier fees.
Very sad and pathetic experience and was on calls, mails with UPS for 4 months, am a registered member of NRAI also.

Hi ,
How many guns can you import in a year with your existing Rifle clubmembership, is there any limit to it.

Hi Denong,
To my personal experience Pyramydair is the best who ships through FedEx (excellent customs clearance job). Please read my experience in the following topic: http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9991

Law man, what counts if it’s in the same package, then it won’t get through. You can not even get a scope separately by courier. It has to be brought in personally.

Thanks Big Daddy for your reply. If the scope is in the same package with the rifle or if it is mounted on the rifle, will there be any trouble at the time of clearance of the same ?
Any IFGian has any experiance to import an air-rifle with scope ?

Scope with air gun is a no no. You will be inviting trouble. The Delhi postal customs are really stern about the rules, they don't care even if you are a renowned shot, so make sure that you follow all the rules. Or the tears are on you.
