Actually had a bee infestation in a chimney not visible in the photos. So the firemen came and cleared them out.. created a little bit of excitement in the little village I live in.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Never occurred to anyone just to build a fire in the fireplace??? Or were the firemen just bored, and needed training?

Interesting. Lets hope you keep your barrels cleaner than your chimneys..can't thread on a new chimney, that's for sure..
"With solid bullets on heavy animals such as elephant, rhino and buffalo this power is quite apparent but is not so obvious as when soft-nose bullets are being used, say, lion, particularly when is a case of stopping a charge : the .404 will stop him all right, but will seldom crumple him quite so completely as will the .416" -- John Taylor, Big Game and Big Game Rifles, (Ch. IX)

Nope cant create a fire over an electric stove or an electric chimney. Plus around here only the Firemen are 'legally' allowed to clear bee/hornet nests. And yes the FD doesnt have a lot to do around here, thankfully there hasnt been a fire around these parts in several years.

Actually you can, depends on the design of the chimney.
