Har - Ki- Doon

Post by joydeepm » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:28 pm

One of the most visually pleasing moderate level hike - this one is a treat for the eyes and the soul . The GMVN shelters are lousy as usual - carrying your own tent is advisable if you are finicky about clean accommodation like me . The weather was grea...t - barring two days of intermittent showers on the way up . Har ki doon is at the westernmost part of Uttaranchal - bordering on Himachal . That is why , this garhwali piece of heaven is Green as it can get - unlike the rest of Garhwal which is rocky . Cross Borasu pass and you are in Sangla valley of Himachal .Borasu Pass divides Uttarakhand from Himachal Pradesh. The pass is located only a few kilometers from the China border. The east part of the Borasu area comes out from Tons valley and the north-west part is merged with Baspa valley. Its north-west range comes down on Jhukia Glacier. Nearest village, Chitkul, lies some 20 km (12 mi) to north.
