More Guns Equals Less Crime?

Post by m24 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 3:45 pm

Now this is interesting, confusing, tiring and too much of numbers, yet numeric proof.

Linoge investigates the common assertion More Guns Equals Less Crime? at http://www.wallsofthecity.net/2010/06/g ... econd.html

Main Point:
The hypothesis of “more guns = more deaths” is demonstrably false over the past 26 years of American history. The number of firearms in civilian circulation have been steadily increasing over that time period, and the number of firearm-related fatalities has not been equivalently increasing.
And I tend to agree with Mike:
There are so many external variables involved when you’re dealing with guns and people,

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I have to agree with that statement of Mike's. Guns alone do not determine crime or fatalities. There are just too many other variables.
