Please go through this link....very informative...
Resizing a mainspring | Air gun blog - Pyramyd Air Report

* IMHO...the seal should have a sung fit within the receiver....even if its a tad tight, it will settle after 200+ shots!
* Further it appears that there is not much (appreciable) difference in the velocities - before & after the new spring + piston etc....may be the AR has become smoother - less vibration....
Remember that it takes any AR at-least 500 shots for it to settle down to evaluate if performance....

Brihaji,
Thank You for the link. But I already read it before. That is why I left the gun cocked for one hour to scrag the spring. But what I am concerned about is just one hour reduced the spring length by 3 inches. The new spring is now 11 inches long as against the old spring's 10.75 inches after more than 1000 pellets shot with the old spring. Does it reflect the poor quality of the spring.
The PH seal is a tad tight when new in my ORIONs and noticed that the piston seal wears a little after use. But I think a correct fit with good sealing properties is much better than a tighter fit as it results in less friction yet seals properly. I also think these kind of synthetic seals expand a little on forward stroke of the piston due to the resistance by compressing air. I may be wrong though.
The results with the old power plant were with the original seal, spring and spring guide after more than 1000 pellets were shot through the gun and I guess the gun was properly settled down. The results with the new power plant were taken only after three pellets were shot through the gun to see if there is any dieseling. You can see that the avg MV for GSmiths only increased a tiny bit but all other pellets registered a little lower average MVs. Also the original seal fails my sealing test. I tested the piston with old seal before fitting the new seal and found that the piston descends down even with the transfer port blocked. That is why I am expecting increase in performance after the gun settles down. We can see only after the gun settles down.
The Teflon Spring Guide is a successful improvement and it made the cocking and firing cycle nice and smooth with very little vibrations. And I am expecting improved performance with the new seal. I also think that if proper spring loaded plungers are used the trigger would become as good as
that of a PH Gun. The Hurricane, I feel, is capable of 12 ft-lbs with good quality pellets. I think it can deliver 12 ft-lbs with good accuracy with JSBs.
But I don't think it can deliver the claimed 14 ft-lbs with any pellets except may be those extremely light weight alloy pellets gun manufacturers use to achieve their claimed MVs.
If this gun gives acceptable accuracy at long ranges also with good pellets then people who don't mind this kind of stock may find it attractive in its price range. Also so far the ceramic coating proved to be good despite the way I left the gun exposed to elements without taking any care just to see how good the ceramic coating is.
I think the most important thing now for the AARMR Sports is to improve the trigger.
Regards,
GNV
