Re: Karnataka State Rifle Association
At last, I have managed to get the requisite police verification certificate and also completed the mandatory civilian rifle training course. I am told the Range Officer will now recommend whether the participant to the civilian training course is eligible to be given membership or not. Based on his recommendation, I will have to approach KSRA again to get an application for membership and it has to be signed by two persons who are already members. Anyone out here who can help me on this? By the by, the cost of Police Verification Certificate is Rs.3000/-, The cost of the Civilian Rifle Training Course is Rs.1000/- and it is for seven sessions on the weekends.

Re: Karnataka State Rifle Association
Log onto www.ksra.in for any information.
In my understanding, Police verification should be free. Sometimes people drop in 50 or 100 INR for 'coffee' (the amount of coffee the cops drink!!! BAH)
Otherwise, the CRT is a small procedure to check the interest and merit of the new joinee. Membership should not be a problem. Just follow all the rules mentioned on the board (reading the board aloud in front of the Range Officer is a big plus) and deligently follow the Range officer's instruction. Dont skip classes without prior notice, because I know everyone in and out, at the range.
I will be glad to sign your application, and also introduce you to some members at the range who can do the secong approval. I will try and drop in this Saturday, and lets take it from there...
PLease PM me for any information you guys may need...
And last but not least, welcome to KSRA (I'm sure no one welcomed you yet!)

No, it isnt free anymore. One has to shell out 3000 bucks for the PVC. However, students are allowed to get a PVC for Rs. 50 if they can get a bonafide certicate from their school/college.TenX";p="47068 wrote: In my understanding, Police verification should be free. Please send a letter to KSRA Admin, Krishna B M G notifying the change of address, preferably with some proof (Khata/LPG/Phone/Etc). They will update their records, and that should be enough. You will mostly NOT have to get another PVC.
I wanted to goto the range today, but could not, owing to domestic emergencies. Will try to make it on the 30th.

KSRA AGM
Hi Folks,
It is learnt that the KSRA AGM is scheduled to be held on 12th October, 2008 and that till completion of AGM, new membership is not being entertained.
I would request all forum members who are KSRA members to kindly attend the AGM and to vote for the motion to allow new membership when the point is raised in the Agenda. This would be the only way people like me who are eager to get a membership stand a chance to do so. So please.

I dont think new membership is in question. What may happen is a slight increase in the membership fees, since its remained at 5000 INR for life membership for too longantismuggler";p="53808 wrote: Hi Folks,

Some more news is that Dec/Jan will be a time when the range may be closed for a major renovation, owing to which, memberships may only be temporarily stopped, until the new premises are ready.
Will keep you informed on this, and appreciate your wanting to be a KSRA member
