Personally,I would buy the 6" one. There after I would take a hacksaw and take off the barrel in 1/2" increments till I reached a length that suited me.Nothing to beat a custom job.

I would go with the 6" as I always liked the looks of the long one's, 8" even better and then ofcourse there is the accuracy factor which is much more better anyday

I am not a big man so I would vote for the 4 inch barrel. Additional length (= longer range) in bigbore pistol barrels is of not much use as it is difficult to get any meaningful accuracy with it. Of course a bigger man may think otherwise. But for selfdefence and for a meaningful target range of 10-15 yards, the 4 inches would be more than adequate..

I prefer 6" as it is more accurate in the field and have used it and I am comfortable with it. Again it is my personal preference, as I have big hands and the small barrels do not suit my style of shooting. I love the 357 Magnum, very reliable.

4" best suited for carrying around as well as target shooting.so it serves both the purposes.

i would prefer a 4" barrel. My dad had a .38 s&w in 4",and my granddad had one in 6";both government weapons, and i got to carry and shoot them both.The4" version was the most versatile.

I would like a 6'' barrel if it were just to be kept at home and shot at range. But, if it's a carry gun, I would like it with 4'' barrel. 2 1/2'' is not going to be easy and as accurate as a 4'' one.JMO as I never shot one.

A 6 incher sits pretty comfortably on my person. It does not matter after a while once one gets used to it.

For match 6" is always cool, for conceal carry 2", BTW I just shoot 6 shots with .38 special (Too Hard To Handel), am sure .357 Magnum, will pop out of hand....will try one day....

Had I been asked this question many years ago, I would have preferred the 6", I prefer the looks of a 6" barrel but 4" is a lot more practical to carry or travel with.

I really wonder how much more accurate a 6" barrel is compared to a 4" barrel. target firearms I gather have tighter chamber which has an impact on accuracy.

the walther gsp .32 & 22lr pistols which are being used in world cup competition for decades have a barrel length of .22LR - 115 mm or 4.35 in
GSP .32 S&W- 107mm or 4.2 inches

I was amazed at the really tight grouping some shooters at the nationals were getting with the 22lr walther gsp at 50m in free pistol competitions..

I did meet the eley representative who was in india many years ago, he told me the tightest grouping they had got while testing ammo for olympic level shooter was with a free pistol in a vice, it was better than several benched clamped/vice clamped .22lr match rifle..
