Suggestions for type of pellets for a newcomer.

thanks to everyone for posting replies on my first post.

i would like to request your suggestions for the type of pellets suitable for beginners, please do mention the make or the name of the manufacturer and as well the type .177 / .22, round / flat / pointed etc.

marshal shot long range pointed .22 are available with some dealers for rs. 160.00 box of 500.

i have also come across diana shot LONG RANG .22 pointed, there's a spelling mistake " LONG RANG " i think it should have been
LONG RANGE. are such pellets genuine.

please do suggest names of other brands along with the approximate prices.

The pellet is some what soft and hard to push into barrel....

hi hobby shooter,

well i m a shooter from delhi state, and played couple of national & international matches, use Morini electronic trigger..........imported pallets are the best choice, any brand, but if u like to practise, my practise means, firing atleast 4 boxes of 500 each, atleast 2000 pallets a week, then go for Indian - master shots 125 per box.......

what i believe, these imported air pistols / rifles, barells are made to fire lacks of pallets, and a lead pallet can't eat a barell.......sometimes i use master shots for my delhi state championships....its a good brand...

ask for master shot match pallets.....

attn. harsh any other pellet brands you have used.

attn. amit, 2000 pellets a week thats 300 pellets daily. you do seem to have a passion for shooting, please do try to post details about your experiences at
delhi state championships.

Lead pellets with high antimony content are quite hard and these do screw up your barrel, almost every Indian manufactured pellet has a very high antimony content, so if you wish to shoot Master Shots for the Morini, you can kiss your morini goodbye after extensive usage. On the other hand imported Match quality pellets like Match Kugeln and RWS are almost 99.9 % pure lead, which is very soft.

I am personally involved in the development of the Master shot wad cutters,and these have been revamped because Mr Tyagis nephew ia a sports shooter

The pellets in the yellow plastic packets are made of virgin lead which has been imported from Britain for this purpose . So there is o harm in using them .

I have a card on which I was testing these pellets at 20 meters with the pistol ( IHP co2 ) clamped and a 10 shot group with the target tacked to the wall ( now why would I specify that BECAUSE when you hit the wall the ricochet of a 4.5 mm projectile measures 6mm is size should have used a target holder . Anyway the surprising thing is that the group was single hole 8mm

The above goes to prove that the pellets are not inaccurate I also used to think so and the local shooting school has got a large stock of these .

The pistol was a unit discarded as useless which i had taken and accurised

HVJ1& sawbones, thankx for enligtning me, on this subject, in past 1 yrs, with 2 pistols, 1 morini, and 1 styer (5shot), I have crossed my practise of more than 1.5 lakh pallets of master shot, and now if i test my barell, it is in excellent condition......and bro, i am here talking abt only Master shot...

recently, i got another lot of master shot, now using them, there is no problem with my barell..

pls dont take it otherwise, ur's is a good theory, but mine is practicle.....and still continuing....

Present Nationals, in jalander i represented delhi state, used master shot, and score 555/600, got my 1st Renowned shot status.......thankx to my friend, Mr Tyagi... we atleast 10 pistol & rifle shooters, buy bulk from him, he is a excellent guy, and brand is cool...

and sawbones i am not using yellow box, i am using BLUE box, u can compare it with final match 4.49...they best for MORINI......

Barells are made out of solid steel, lead cant eat steel, and let them kiss the barell as many times as it takes....

My own experience with Mastershot has been good thus far. They are being used in the Morini. I am not sure about the Antimony content and its fowling of the barrel though...

Any reports available of the lead vs. antimony content ?

Dev has problems using the same pellets in the Steyr as many of their skirts do not fit perfectly...

Well amit its like this
guns are known to be partial to pellets
pellets are known to vary from batch to batch I have used both the blue and yellow box pellets
the blue box pellets were a very good batch
then came the yellow box first run was a muffup that was pointed out and the present ones are good
I had a tube of each of these my tube of the initial yellow box are almost over as I use them for practice but yes they do have the problem that olly and dev are facing one in 15 about happen to fly
what i used to do was strain them thru a match box grid and them use the loose ones for timing practice ie shooting a blank wall or back of card and then the tighter ones for precision
I have three pistols a baikal a tau and the ihp which i have changed into a bandycoot sniper watch out for the post on that, I hope to do it soon

Anyway to make a long story short Mr Tyagi had bought this redundant master shot company from the previous dealer and is breathing new life into it, the wad cutters i know for sure are made from imported lead, actually he doesnt have to much time for this project but it is being done because his nephew is a shooter so the feedback is direct. no other indian company that i know of gets derect feedback on accuracy issues.

I stand corrected on the matter,however lab test may tell us the content. Further even barrels are lab tested, consult Dr. Shirsat, just looking down the barrel one cannot determine wear and tear. No offence mate. Further skirt size diameter is critical for accuracy, hence hand picked or hand sorted pellets are sought after. Over the span of my shooting career, most of us would hand pick or hand sort pellets even from a RWS tin or Match K. The skirts do get distorted in shape due to collision with other pellets in the tightly packed box.

Thanks for your input.....

Do you think lubing the pellets would help in any way ? I believe, or rather have heard, that the thin film of oil on the pellet skirt, actually traps the propellant air and aids in shot accuracy... ??

Also, when we say 'fly', does it mean that the pellet is under-weighted and hence goes hay-wire ?
