Re: air rifles in chennai
@chris- I had recently been to the shooting club in egmore(inside commisioner office). in the reception the lady informed me that people in the club will come only in the morning and evenings. she asked me to contact a armory which is their inside their premises for police officers.
When i went their he asked to me to go to Thinathanthi office in Ponamalle high road.
Their when i inquired they said the enrollment would be about 40K. their quota for this year is over and they asked me to apply for 2010.
Cheers,
Rosario

No way you should pay 40K....Please get yourself a NRAI membership it would cost you only 21K for life time, and the best part is you can shoot with the NRAI membership at any State rifle Association or NRAI affiliated Clubs all over the country.....

The membership in chennai rifle club will always postpone to next year if you enqure with 40 k .the current back gate fee is 2lac and willing members can get membership in allround the year .this club is for the tummy gun owners and not for real shooting sports members ,thats what the fact is
@rodrick
Not all club allows NRAI members in their premises ,its part of their own rule and they dont follow the NRAI Policy.
cheers

That is SAD as I was reading in the NRAI site they mentioned that their members can shoot in the affiliated State rifle Association, really sad to see how everyone has a way to bend the rules for their own needs and fill their own pockets.

@Striker- Thats what i heard as well. when i went to enquire thinathanthi office. the guy downstairs said they charge close to 2 lacs.
I just couldnt afford so much. i just forgot my rifle club member ship thing and started plinking at the backyard of my home.
PS.Probably shooting game is only for the bindras (I mean the golden finger). where people could shell out crores to achieve their passion.
Cheers,
Rosario

Errr... not quite! Joining a local club will have the benefit of you being able to use their shooting facilities and (depending how honest the management is) you can also procure imported ammunition at very reasonable rates - to shoot at the local range.Christopher Rodrick wrote:Are you sure the Chennai rifle Club charges 40K to 1lac. As the Membership in NRAI is 21k Lifetime, and NRAI is far more superior to any of the rifle club in India. Please go to the chennai rifle club's office and find out, as asking any tom dick and harry would give you wrong information.
Cheers,
Chris
a) NRAI members have no such access of any shooting facilities
b) If you wish to procure imported ammo from NRAI (as a member) you need to be either a renowned shot OR very well "plugged in" to the system (if you know what I mean).
c) NRAI has it's office in Delhi, so even if you satisfy either one of the above 2 criteria - you will still have to come to Delhi to get your hands on the ammo
