CHEROKEE is the original one. Rest all are copycats and duplicates.

I sell both springs Cherokee and the one made by G. Smith (Kulkarni).
Using both the springs one has to tighten the screws. No difference on this count.

The first stage of trying to extract more fps from an IHP or any spriner for that matter is to tune it using the various tune guides available. Just carrying out the tune steps and replacing the piston seal with a better quality one like Diana blue seal will help you achieve a good improvement on fps. Also the gun will function smoothly.
Further as a second step you can attempt in replacing the spring. I have replaced the IHP spring with a duplicate indian copy of a JM E3650 and a Diana blue seal and have achieved the following late last year....
The fps in yellow is with the pellet seated in properly with a pellet seating tool.
Bandubhandar I would definitely like to try the original Cherokee spring to see if its make a good difference the firing behaviour. Please send me more details. If screws have to be tightened frequently the probably the spring is not suitable, but this can only be confirmed by actually trying it out
And while we are on the subject of increasing fps, On a lighter note, try not to catch magnumitis.
Its a proverbial and highly contagious disease where an enthusiast is obsessed with and yearns for higher fps and higher power in his springer.
A tuned IHP35 shoots sweetest at around 775fps. Stock IHP give 650 fps. So thats a very good improvement.

Hi fantumfan,
(Basu pl. note)
> Good info pal.
> You are absolutely right when it comes to "MAGNUMITIS" - it can turn out to be an obsession with no limit in sight.
> If only one cares to go through the output of most imported well known makes of air rifles, the ideal fps is anywhere between 750 & 850 which delivers "optimum accuracy".
> Let's face it "We have no choice when it come to the quality of the tube (powerplant)". It's what the manufacturer gives us. A seamless well honed (ID) tube is the ultimate.
The only options we have while tuning is to change the:
1. Seal
2. Spring + guide
3. Washers
4. Adjustments in the trigger pull - most Indian guns have a 6lbs / 7lbs pull and single stage. Whereas the ideal would be a 2 stage trigger with 3.5lbs to 4lbs pull.
5. Use silicone oil or moly for lubrocation, as these reduce the friction coefficient - thus reduce loss of power efficiency.
Unfortunately our local gunsmiths could be good mechanics but poor engineers (eg. a good auto mechanic can repair your car, but can't design a carburator!!!) & that's a big difference.
Cheers

Re: Cherokee or Cheroki ?
Hello,
Magnumitis it is! Like the search for the philosopher's stone
Which spring does IHP use? I read that these are from Hammerli. In any case, which would be the best or better spring for my IHP 35?
Thanks & Regards,
Atanu

Re: Cherokee or Cheroki ?
dear brihacharan n FF,
my gun was new and loaded with awesome local rude main spring ,was producing huge power but cocking effort was simply hell.this gun was tuned by smoothening the surface of cylinder .used snug fit spring guide as adviced by pkjeetesh, lube was used which was mix of motor grease and mobil same v/v as adviced by shamsher on the surface of piston, only grease on main cherokee spring finally screwing the stock with FEVIFIT 33.Today grouping at 15 mtr 1.5" with little dieselling. This treadlocker is very effective and i am sure noway screws are likely to be loosened in future as cherokee has power with smoothness.i see it to be singleholer once power stabilize.

Basu,
How about some pictures. I never use oil based lubes, they cause dielseling and give a rough firing cycle.

Hi Brihacaharan,
Thanks so much for your response I am indeed grateful for your kindness to respond to a learner.
I have now two questions:
(1) How does the IHP spring compare to the ones you have listed?
(2) Which spring would you recommend me to buy from the above for my IHP 35?
I have just taken apart my rifle using a home made compressor and following Tirths advice to super tune it. I polished the inside of spring chamber using a drill and wet sand paper on an extension rod. Put the apex seal and adapter. Drilled and tapped hole on the top to fit the scope rails. etc etc.
Above all It gives me immense pleasure doing things myself.
Warm Regards,
Atanu

Hi Atanu!
1. If you want the best - then go for the Diana35 (original) - either import it from TW Chambers UK or get it from G Smith, Pune. The IHP Springs have comparatively low tensile strength & low temperence & resilience and are made to deliver around 550 to 600 fps. Good for plinking upto 40 to 45ft
2. G Smith & Cherokee Springs are good too. Our fellow IFGian Basu from Kolkata has some good experience with Cherokee.
3. Remember a new spring takes about 250 to 400 shots to settle down and provide optimum performance (fps & flbs).
4. While changing to any of the above recommended springs other than original IHP - you may have to change the 'Spring Guide' as there could be minor dimensional variations in the ID of the springs. G Smith can supply this.
Cheers
