One more help from you guys.
I spoke to the emirates people as I will be travelling through emirates via Dubai to Bngalore.
The emirates people told me to submit of the details like.
Gun serial no.
licence no (even after i said it is a air gun)
no of ammunations.
etc and they were not very much sure of all the details that need to be provided.
I think they also need a approval from Dubai police if do they approved then only I can carry as I was told.
IF any one know about the details that need to be submited and the prior permission needed.(specailly emirates flight).
Please do suggest in.

Ranjeet would be the best person to answer your question as he too flew Emirates via Dubai. However, he has probably logged off now and will only come online after a couple of days.
If I remember correctly, he had no problems with this airline.
I suggest you submit the needed information along with a note saying that since this is an air-pistol, it is not considered to be a fire-arm, hence, no licence is required.

This post now actually happens to be from Dubai, using Marhaba's free wireless:).. Though sitting outside of it....I travel economy..
Well, As you would have noted in the website of emirates, you need to inform them before hand and get permission from them and Dubai Airport Authority.
To do this all you need to do is call their Cargo service, you can get the contact from website, and the questions about so called bullets is because you mentioned "gun" "pistol" rifle" or something like that.
just say you have a "luftgewehr", or "luftpistole" keep telling the persion, spring, gas powered luftgewehr..and please do give the serial number, its required. As for license tell them, its free for above 18 yrs, that is when the 'F' inside the pentagon is important.
And rest assured, your baggage would be opened and you would find a note, that "you baggage has been opened and nothing removed ........"
Again 'F' inside pentagon is really critical if you are carrying a airgun out of Germany or else you need a firearm passport as they call it in Germany..

I was aware about taking permission from Dubai Airport Autority.I guess I called the wrong person to get the details at the emirates.Actually I called up the Resevation booking customer care service no.
As Ranjeet mentioned I need to talk to cargo service and Ranjeet thanks for the word "luftgewehr". still I did not receive u r PM regarding the contact no.
Ranjeet if u can tell me how many days it took to u to get clearance from the Dubai Airport Authority and overall issues.

I'll give you my contact, once I get a new SIM card, seem to have misplaced my old one..
And for me, as It took about one week or so to get the clearance from Dubai Airport Authority, the reason being it was Ramadan and the Airport authority was closed for almost a week.
Normally you should get it in a couple of days

Bringing in a Crosman 0.22 air rifle from US
Hi guys,
One of my friends in the US is visiting India in Feb. I am asking him to bring me a Crosman 0.22 quest air rifle along for me. In fact, the fellow has already ordered the gun and is expecting delivery in another week or so. After going through the various posts in this forum, I finally decided it is safe for someone to carry the gun along since it is for personal use (non-commercial purpose) and will travel in checked-in luggage along-with necessary documentation (original invoice, manufacturer's de.scription of the gun, etc.). But as the travel date is approaching, Im getting a bit nervy about the whole thing. I do not want my friend to land into any trouble with the customs (especially Indian customs). People who have been through this experience in the past could tell whether it is safe. He will be landing at Mumbai, and then travelling to Indore.
Also, does the rifle require a separate hard case (he will be travelling by Delta), or can it be carried in the shipping box? And whether it'll be considered excess baggage, and thus attracting excess baggage charges? I've asked him to talk to airlines about all this before travelling.
If you guys feel it is not very safe to try this, please let me know and I will ask him not to carry the gun. He will find a buyer for it there.

If he is catching a connecting flight to Indore then it could get a bit sticky if customs insist on the air-rifle be given a NOC by the Arms Section at the Commissioners office.
However, I think he stands a good chance if he were to request the custom officer to just take the duty and let him go. Showing the Bombay - Indore ticket would help. They may be on the take but they are a pretty good bunch if you are polite.
