Re: Mental Training for Sports & General Life.
Relaxation response discussion:
For those who try the above exercise, on their own, the state of relaxation achieved varies, from 'nothing happened' to Wow, I zonked out! Both responses, though on the extreme end of the spectrum are GOOD.
In case you are one of those who feel that they felt nothing, well, all I can say is that you need to practice and BELIEVE in the exercise. For those who have an excellent IMAGINATION, the response is usually on the Wow side. But you still have to practice this exercise.
In my case, I had little choice than to master the exercise completely, which I did in less than a month of very diligent practice. To all my friends out there, who have read this exercise, I can only say one thing. Master this exercise and YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER. I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE it, on the basis of 25 years of practice!
In a very short time, the exercise ceases to be an exercise and becomes a part of your life, you depend on it like a boat holds on to an anchor in troubled waters or even still ones. The relaxation response , like an anchor, keeps you grounded in this life.
Try it, persevere with it and I promise you, we will journey into a world of our own choosing.

Re: Mental Training for Sports & General Life.
There is one other observation, the DRIVE, HUNGER, FIRE in the belly, to get what you want from life and the understanding, that this will come about only if one IMPROVES oneself, is an attitude one finds in 1amongst a 100. No wonder that there are few leaders and many followers. Likewise, very few will have the gumption, the guts, the courage to seriously take up the relaxation exercise.
Most people start off with great enthusiasm, then gradually fade away, preferring to go back to their tried and accepted ways of living life. Little realising that one has to change oneself constantly from all angles in order to achieve anything of substance in one's life. And however much I may harp ad nauseaum on this line, or however much other self help books and authors may recommend, those who really want to change will change, the rest unfortunately are SHEEP.
In my case, the drive to excel, was so fierce, the only way, I can communicate best to the reader is recalling the scenes where Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) trains in time with the magnificent theme song from ROCKY - Eye of the tiger!

hey hvj in the 20 holds (10 secs) today could mantain the SA in 19 out of 20 holds. in one case there seemed to be a spasm in the shoulder which disturbed the hold. lets see if i can mantain this now.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Trigger Timing & Aiming Area Hold:
1. As mentioned before, the shooter must focus on his correct sight alignment. Trigger timing and aiming area hold are pre-programmed.
2. In my previous post, I have provided an attachment for sight alignment, next take an air rifle card, very precisely and accurately, paint or stick the sight alignment silhouette, below the black, (within your aiming area).
3. The size of the cut out should APPEAR the same size as your air pistol's sights, when aligned from 10 metres on an air pistol target. In order to get a fair idea of this, take your air pistol, align your sights within the aiming area of the air pistol target. Study the outer edges of your sights and compare it with the width of the air pistol black circle. This will give you a fair enough idea of the size of the cutout you need to make and stick on the air rifle target.
4. DO NOT, stick the cut out in a crooked manner, nor should the cut out have blurred edges. The cut out MUST have SHARP, clean edges and CORRECTLY pasted.
5. Next stick the air rifle target at the same height on the wall (140- 145 cms), make sure that it is perfectly upright. The distance can be around 4-5metres between you and the wall (with ar target pasted on it).
6. Now cock your pistol (dry). Hold the pistol on a table, do not lift the pistol, in fact just rest it on a table, whil YOU focus on the sight alignment on the ar target. Take a pressure (second pull), let the trigger break (while you go on focussing on the SA). Adjust the trigger pressure, so that trigger breaks in 3-5 seconds. Continue SAME pressure, even after trigger breaks (tick) continue focussing on the SA, without shifting or diminishing focus, till 2-3 seconds after trigger break.
7. This exercise can be done sitting also, just adjust your ar target to required height.
What we are doing here, is programming your subconscious mind to get the correct trigger timing WHILE focussing on the correct SA.
You can do this exercise any time you have time but you must be mentally alert while doing it, make sure that NO other stray thought crosses your mind while focussing on the target.
Anything between 100 to 300 times a day is excellent.
Do not VARY the trigger timing nor follow through time, try to achieve the same timing 90 % of the time.

Hello All
It has come to my notice that somebody (out of the 17 who downloadedthe SA cut out) is using all the techniques along with SA cut out discussed on this forum as his/her's own methods and training novices and shooters, charging them a fee for the same. My answer to all this is THANK YOU, you are MOST WELCOME to not only use these techniques but YOU may also feel free to pass them to others under your own banner. There is a far deeper philosophy behind this, which is as follows;
1. A bee, jumps from flower to flower, helps cross pollinating, leading ultimately to produce a fruit, the benefit of which is UNIVERSAL.
2. So also, somebody teaching these techniques, tremendously helps in reaching that individual whose talent is yet to bear fruit.
3. So its not the pollen from one flower, its the bee, who does an equally important job.
Best Regards

Re: Mental Training for Sports & General Life.
Jitu,
Do not undermine yourself, I will prove it to you, just go back on tips on pistol shooting and see how many people have actually down loaded the SA cutout. Now divide the number of downloads to number of views on this post. Then you will see what I mean. People read, nod their heads, but when it comes to taking action? Well thats another story, then these guys expect to reach great heights. Fools in paradise!

Re: Mental Training for Sports & General Life.
Boss its not that people aren't following your thread and practicing what you have taught. Remember the story of the school kid who says that he hasn't studied for the exams and then you notice him at the tutorial centre. There are lots of people who haven't grown out of that mind set. So the Indian crab story still lives on.hvj1 wrote:Hello Sa_ali
You are right on all three counts. I had slacked of a bit off late, since I was not getting much of a response on this thread. Will continue agains with your interest on the subject.
Hi Jitu,
Will get to it eventually.
Best Regards
Rest assured that your words and teachings are not in vain. I haven't been able to reply as often due to my office firewalls. But the night is mine. So carry on gurudev!
