How to Purchase an IHP gun | Summary of findings

As some of you may know I have been trying to find what it takes to get rnning with a IHP pistol and rifle and have been nipping ears of many members.

The fact finding mission was rather daunting and I thought I would let people know the facts and details around the same so that there life may become easy.
Other new commers can probably look at this post to get what they will need.

1. If you are buying a spring action rifle or pistol you are good don't worry. I own these and they are good to me

2. If you wish to buy single stroke pneumatic you are good the rifle is self sufficient vis no special equipment is required. These are 2nd on my wish list

3. If you wish to buy Co2 pistol, I would suggest don't do it. Getting Co2 filled is a huge-huge hassle, if you want to, ensure you have a fire extinguisher guy who won't be daunted to fill a gun cylinder

4. If you wish to buy a PCP rifle or Pistol you need to buy the guns from IHP and you need to buy a pump to fill the air. If you have a range which will do this for you then you don't need the pump, I on the other hand like to be self reliant and have contacted karizman. The PCP rifle and pistol are 2nd on my wish list.

For IHP rifles please contact Mr. Makheeja from IHP... not sure if I should publish his number but you can get the IHP head office number from site http://www.indianhumepipe.com/index1.html who will then give you Mr. Makheeja's number.

For buying a pump please talk to Rajesh Yadav who is our good friend karizman, again I am not publishing his number and one should contact him personally

I bought my IHP national 35 mm from Aimco enterprises Kolkata - http://www.aimco.co.in/.
It was Rs. 3575 (rifle+wooden packaging) and Rs. 400 shipping cost in Jan 09 then.

They had sent it to Bangalore via Gati roadways .. took less than a week.

The current guns that I own I bought from a regular arms dealer in delhi (in rajori) and got them over the counter.

The pnuematic ones will take a month as suggested by Mr. Makheeja.

The IHP dealers in Delhi (not sure if I should name them) are charging me is exactly twice the price quoted by IHP factroy which I think is a rip off. Also they are unable to answer all my questions...

Any idea, where can one get an IHP 35 .22 at best price in Delhi? There is so much variance in prices that different forum members have mentioned in different posts.

I got my guns OTC from a dealer in Rajori. The price was around the one give by IHP.
There are two options for you
1. Contact IHP factory that will be the best price you will get and you can be sure that you are getting a new gun. - This is my recomendation
2. You could hunt some of the dealers check out the best prices. I can get you the contact details of the Rajori dealer if you want.

I am planning to tour the Kashmiri Gate area this weekend as most of the arms dealers are based there. Lets see what the prices are like in the market. Will try and post my findings in this thread.

As for the IHP factory, do they have a factory in Noida as well ? I heard that they have 20 factories all over India. If not, can they ship to New Delhi?

What do you think about Aimco? I read positive reviews about them in a few threads in the forum.

Sure you can try Kashmiri Gate be sure you buy a new gun with not so hard trigger, I have not been there so can't tell you how good they are.

I dont know if they have a factory in Noida.
Yes they can ship you a gun to New Delhi no issues. The shipping charges are nominal.

I dont know anything first hand about Aimco... do let me know of your findings.

According to me, AIMCO quotes a very reasonable price and can be trusted. AIMCO is kolkata based. I am dealing with them now and waiting for the delivery. Will let you all know about my experience.

Over the past two years I have taken along some friends to the IHP factory and purchased 4 spring action guns from them. We have tried out the guns on their indoor range, from a batch of about 10 each produced by them and then chosen our respective buys. In fact, we have chosen the covers, purchased pellets and even exchanged good banter with the staff over at the factor while the bills are made out. And believe me, that takes really long there.

My point is that, if the factory can sell indivisually over the counter, why wouldn't they dispatch them if payment is made to them before hand? Why don't you have a word with Mr. Makhija?

Secondly, one of the best rifles produced by the factory was the IHP Hammerli Cadet Co2 .177. Even the workers there swear by it's balance, it's accuracy and it's feel; mainly because it was probably the only Indian made fixed barrel bolt action air rifle. I have a pair and I still use it sporadically to this day. As concerns CO2 as a propellant, your friendly neighbourhood soda batli wallah will be glad to fill up the 88gms cylinders for you. It's that easy. In fact you could buy extra MS cylinders that are easily available from soda machine manufacturers and keep them filled with you for short term future use. the threads are the same for soda making machines and the gas chamber in the bolt action.

I have tried their pneumatic side lever air rifles; accuracy is good but has three shortcomings, namely, it's bulky, does not pack a punch for field use and the trigger does not have any 'feel'. Nevertheless, it's a good improvement on their spring actions.

I have personally ordered my guns by directly talking to Mr. Makhija. There process is 50% when you place the order and 50% after delivery.

The PCP guns are better than the Co2 ones.

Now coming to M/s Art crafts sales, I will not buy my guns from them, they quote a price which is twice that is quoted by factory and I would rather buy from other dealers.

They are end retailers and they deserve a profit, but 100% profit in my opinion is a bit too much when I can get things at factory price.

I went to there Delhi Office to buy one.
They were all help full. They over there gave me information and lot help.

I had really bad exp with my last air rifle which I bought from chandni chowk. That rifle just did not work and I had to pay near 5800+ Rs for that. I had to throw it, I got this IHP 35 for 3850+ Tax with Pellet box 100 x 2. Only thing I wish was I should have gone for 500 packet. I never though I would be able to use two packets that quickly after such a horrible exp with last rifle.

Earlier I was not even able to hit pellet(It just was getting stuck in barrel) Now I was able to hit target(Disk Antena) 60 Mts away(No Joke).

I bough an IHP 35 model on Sat 1st may 10. I bough t it from Kashmere gate in Delhi. I paid Rs 4200 for the model. I will post the address of the retailer later. M/s Art crafts sales (Retails) , 6, Rani Jhansi Road, New Delhi - 110 055 didnt have the .22 model they have the .177 model national 35 they were asking 3600+5% Vat for the model.

i belongs to kerala and here we have got at-least one arms dealer in each district head quarters. (cities like trivandrum or kochi have many). i could guess from the posts that, in north india it is difficult to find a dealer and even if one is there, they are charging too much for ihp air rifles. before a couple of months i brought one IHP 35 from trivandrum (from IHP dealer) and i paid 3850/-. since this is the actual price, do our fellow members need to pay 5k or 6k for the same stuff? why we give huge profits to the dealers. in this context, i suggest to go for aimco (www.aimco.co.in). i dont have personal experience with them, but from the IFG posts, i understand they are reasonable and decent. prices are also good. they charge 400-500 towards the shipping cost, but the gun will reach you within one week in a wooden pack by gati transport. i feel, our fellow members live in metros or a place where there is no arms dealer can go for this option. the only defect i felt is, we may not have a chance to select a gun from the available stock, which we get at the shop.
