What type of game and do you know the size of their relevant kill zones?

hi Mack The Knife,
The AF Condor is the most powerful PCP today. Even more powerful than the RANGER. i dont know if u visit talonownersgroup.com
have a look at that forum and everything is available there on these Airforce guns.

Guys are converting the Condor into a .308 PCP as well shooting 200 yards. Ya no jokes, 200 yards with an air powered gun.

with the .22, rabbits, groundhogs, crows, foxes are easy game upto 70-80 yards and smaller birds over 100 yards.

I will send you some pics by email

Pankaj,

The Daystate Ranger is nowhere in the PCP powerstakes. That accolade probably goes to the Barnes pneumatics.

What kind of muzzle energy is the Condor producing in it's various calibre forms and what is the consistent shot count per fill?

What ammo do you intend to use in the .22 Condor? Eley Magnums, Eun Jins or will you be casting? I have my reservations about it being capable of dropping a fox cleanly at extended ranges.

An ordinary .22 calibre 20 ft.lbs. air-rifle can drop a crow at 100+ yards but that would be an irresponsible shot because knowing the trajectory, reading the wind and having the capability of putting the pellet into it's bonce is far to difficult for the average punter.

To paraphrase an old saying, "Power is nothing without accuracy".

Thanks for the pics.

pellets

Post by panks » Tue Jul 04, 2006 8:44 pm

hi rustom,

in the condor, only heavy pellets perform well, i have got the eunjins 28 gr, crow mags, predators, the one's will poly tips and kodiaks,

CPs and others are just supersonic even at the lowest power setting, which is pointless as they get unstable, they generate 1300 FPS.

with the 490 cc tank, and current settings, i get around 35 consistent shots with FPE anywhere from 50-70

Branes and Quakenbush are in a different league alltogether, i am not comparing AF to those, i mean Quakenbush is for big game hunting, in the 308 and the 45 and 50 cals.

Those are some pieces to own but with our laws, dont want to be caught with a 50 cal airgun, you know what i mean

cheers

drop and zero

Post by panks » Tue Jul 04, 2006 8:50 pm

hi rustom,

one more thing, if the condor is zeroed at 60 yards, the pellet dropout to 100 yards is just .5 of an inch

What pellets are you using? A spread of 20 ft.lbs. over 35 shots does not sound right.

What are your group sizes and at what range?

Either I have miunderstood or something isn't adding up.

shot chrony numbers

Post by panks » Thu Jul 06, 2006 4:14 pm

hi Rustom,
below are the numbers with a Kodiak 21grain. 3000 psi fill and after 40 shots, the fill pressure was 1800 psi, still a lot of air for atleast 30 more good shots. All this s at powerl wheel 8.

If i increase the power to 10 or 11 the numbers will be 1075 to 1150.
and max power of 13 will give supersonic results.

shot fps
1- 956.0
2- 954.1
3- 961.7
4- 969.4
5- 965.2
6- 972.5
7- 975.0
8- 983.2
9- 984.1
10- 984.6
11- 985.5
12- 990.4
13- 981.2
14- 987.6
15- 988.5
16- 993.4
17- 991.7
18- 992.5
19- 1003.7
20 - 992.2
21- 991.2
22- 1001.9
23- 992.9
24- 994.3
25- 993.2
26- 992.3
27- 990.7
28- 984.6
29- 984.4
30- 978.9
31- 976.0
32- 972.7
33- 967.1
34- 966.6
35- 961.5
36- 962.2
37- 951.5
38- 938.9
40- 943.3
41- 950.5
42- 942.6
43- 947.3
44- 935.9
45- 930.4
Now on an average, this pellet will give 42 to 45 FPE

If i use eunjins and increase the power setting

The eunjns also travel at an average of 950 to 1000 giving a FPE of 62 to 65.

Some heavier pell 31grain+ will give a FPE of 70+. All this in .22

Thanks

Pankaj

naturaly had have a lot of different Haenel/ Suhl airguns, a Diana Wehrsport for 4,4mm roundball with underlever and a stock like a Mauser 98 military rife and a Weihrauch HW 80 in 6,35mm/.25.
The Weihrauch was very powerful, one of the best available here 10 years ago and the bullet penetrat 25mm of softpine. Similar in Power like a 6mm Flobert rimfire but with a very high trajectory.
Dont know what you for airgun pellets have, here is an old and well respected firm: Haendler&Natermann having a large programm of airgun pellets. The best is the so called Barracuda, very strong and heavy. Have load once cartridges with the .25 barracuda for a 25ACP pistol and it works automatic. No other airgun pellet will be so strong.
The only one I have now is a custom made Haenel with .177 and .22 barrel, a
Suhler Einhackmontage, believe in englisch claw mounts with a Carl Zeiss Jena scope and checkering.
Buy this in 1992 for 100 DM, now only let make a claw mount from Frankonia ( our greatest mail order dealer) cost 850 euro - 1700 DM.
