have achieved 70% again. however the shoulder strain was bothering hence took it a bit easy. it is slowly dissipating and hope to be back in full practice by monday. no lack of motivation, what with sachin (my school and colony type) giving a live demo of what people in late thirties can do.

I hope that you are doing your stretching exercises. Could you briefly tell me what your routine (exercise) is?

Jitu, make sure that your jogging shoes are of the very best quality, if not, then in the long run, you may do damage to your spine, knees and lower back. Also, do your jogging on a ground, (parade ground is better than macadam road and ideally the turf is even better than parade ground) never on the road.

Evening routine seems to be pretty OK, keep up the good work. Remember to LISTEN to your body! Do not push your body, till such time it is capable of taking extra load. We need to avoid injuries, however small, at this stage itself, regardless of your age. Even Olympic athletes, listen to their body, very minutely and take corrective steps, the moment they feel a niggle or wiggle in time, before it leads to something more serious or chronic.
Unfortunately, in India our coaches are not that well trained to recognise the difference between the onset of injuries which turn chronic and just muscle adaption.

You may shoot weekly and I will be in Satara on the 16th, but I am not so sure about 19th being in Pune. However we will keep in touch.

Well done Jitu!
Can you please tell all of us here, precisely how you moved from 70% to 85%? Provide us the details however small. This will be for the benefit of others as well as it will positively affirm your self-image and esteem.

i was hitting a dead wall for many days on 80%. until i myself started believing that my shooting had improved. probably the lack of faith in my own shooting was preventing me from advancing . however i tried the floowing:-

(a) I again and again saw the DVD of The Secret. it was a great motivator
(b) while shooting i was, finally able settle on a set routine for each shot
(c) the more i am managing to convince myself that i have improved the more my % is improving
(d) while practicing SA i have finally been able to take my mind off the score i would get if i am able t hold the SA for the specific time. so no longer stealing glances at the target

however must confess that it has not been easy and danger of lapsing into mistakes still exists. so need to concentrate every time i practice. will try my next practice match and see how much it has helped me to keep SA under pressure of time

This is very important and I am glad that you have worked it out for yourself. We will fine tune this shot routine in the next lesson.
(c) the more i am managing to convince myself that i have improved the more my % is improving
1. Are you writing in your diary DAILY, your goals and aspects mentioned in the lessons on diary writing? If you are not, then that could be the reason that you are not improving as fast as you would like to.
Incidentally, if you are not in the habit of writing your diary then I can assure you that you will NOT reach very far in shooting. :(
(d) while practicing SA i have finally been able to take my mind off the score i would get if i am able t hold the SA for the specific time. so no longer stealing glances at the target
1. Which score are you talking about here? Is it percentage or actual scoring during LIVE shooting?

thx hvj. i am writing my diary but the goals seem very hard to define. this is because the performance seems to be fluctuating. this may be due to the fact that the nature of my job makes me travel and i miss out on practice for a series of days. this warrants loss of many days to regain the old level. hence the diary seems to be running in circles rather than going ahead
secondly what i meant by taking my mind off scoring was that while prac SA earlier the mind would start calculating how much i would have scored had it been live firing (with that particular SA %). but now i have been able to get the mind to concentrate on just increasing the SA% rather than think of the score.
will miss on prac for a week again due to the pune trip. will restart prac on return
