It depends on your purpose . Air pistol is mainly use for target shooting where Air rifle can be used for target shooting and pest control , Since any type of hunting is banned in India, You can only use it for target shooting or plinking purpose. Now it depends upon you how you prefer target shooting/pinking , it can be done with both air pistol and air rifle.

As far importing via personal baggage is concerned , HW35 looks like a conventional break barrel Air rifle that most people are familiar with, where P88 looks like a real Handgun and skeptic officer may want to pass it through police verification to confirm its indeed an air pistol and since its Co2 powered the cost of shooting per pellets will be higher than break barrel and you may find trouble getting CO2 Capsules in India. Another concern is Airlines may not allow you to carry CO2 cartridges in flight for security hazard. Just my two cents before you actually decide to buy a P88.

And one more humble request to you regarding my name, I am Saptarshi and NOT Saptarishi.
Thanks and Regards,
Saptarshi

Amreeth,

Ask these questions to yourself

1. Why you want to have a air rifle/air pistol ?
2. How you are planning to get CO2 Cartridges in india ?
3. Are you ready to pay Rs 500 or more for per 12gm capsule in India for just shooting your pistol ?
4. Is there any particular reason for preferring Air pistol over Air rifle ?

If you are not sure or don't know the answers I would advise you to go for HW35 rifle. Weihrauch is an excellent company and famous for their outstanding accuracy and quality. and if you are really keen to get an air pistol , I would advise you to go for some break barrel air pistol or go for the HW45 which is one of the best in this category and stay away from Co2 powered pistols unless you want to spend a lot every time on CO2 capsules in India.
Thanks and Regards,
Saptarshi

at the end of the day, you buy your airgun and take your chances like everyone else.

I would like to hear from people who have imported air guns through BIAL, do they enforce the deal wood test in Bangalore? How much is the duty?

At 1250 fps I am doubtfull of the diana passing the test.

GUYS looking for your responses, please help

Change the spring to a lower powered spring that will reduce the velocity to 650 or 750 fps. This in .177 will easily pass the deal wood test. You really don't need more power for plinking, in fact most of just get happy with the velocity with hardly any use for the excess bang. If you can buy from the USA then get a tuner like mike mellick to tune it down and have a smoother shooting air rifle like a B 26/ B28 which is Chinese copy of a HW. It will be half the price of a HW.
Mike's shop can be found at www.airgunartisans.com

FWB 300 is a Single Stoke Spring Powered Air Rifle mainly for Match Shooting. Its a Masterpiece and work of Art in my opinion and can score above 570 in a 60 Shot match easily in good hand. Would be an excellent choice if you can find one in good nick and unmolested condition. in USA a good condition FWB300 (Approx 90%) condition will sale somewhere between 400 to 500$, I know a person Jim Edmondson in California deals with FWB300S. Try your luck in case you find this gem in a good price.
Thanks and Regards,
Saptarshi

Amreeth,

Feinwerkbau no longer made these model, whatever available in the market are second hand so I doubt you will get a brand new FWB300. HW45 is one of finest Air Pistol ever produced by HW , its accurate and powerful enough in respect to Air pistol. Sorry I dont have much experience in Walther CO2 pistol may other member can provide you more details.

One request this is becoming OFF TOPIC now and we deviated from the actual subject content of this thread. This thread is very important for all of us who wants to bring air gun/rifle as personal baggage during their overseas visits. So I request you to post your queries in existing/new thread in appropriate section , as It is not a good idea to hijack a important thread like this. Also there are many discussions on best airguns/ good airguns on budget etc. I request you to go through those posts , that may give you a fair idea of popular makes and model and their prices and pros and cons. Also it will help you to narrow down your choices which will fit your preferences and budget.

Hope this helps :)
Thanks and Regards,
Saptarshi

alright so ive fired my p800 alot and i give it a 1 out of 10 because its just crap, its so slow makes so much noise, spare the horrible accuracy the gun costs 45pounds. so now when i have given up with this gun i would try to get some gamo pellets to see how it shoots with them. Do u think one of my relative can bring the .177 pellets in baggage without any hassle?
