Dixie Howda Hunter handgun

Post by Sakobav » Fri Dec 25, 2009 6:49 am

Saw this handgun in the latest edition of American Rifleman.

This gun is quite affordable compared to Europeans models.

Although these handguns meant to back up firearm employed against hunting animals Lions, tigers etc. later on they were used as side weapon by officers.. just wondering if such a handgun are around in India if so can the license be had for such heirlooms?

Wow, some of those fire a 405 grain .58 caliber ball.
Unless the pistol is heavy enough to offset it, that must be a real wrist breaker when fired.

The Howdah repro's are quite a bit of fun to shoot. The recoil is very mild despite the stout loads. You can load a single ball or multiple balls or even shot.. the pistols are fairly heavy and by no means a wrist breaker.
I do have the Howdah on my list of 'to get' guns. Maybe in 2010...
