Cheap Air Guns within 4000rs ?

Post by chrisharis » Sat Oct 17, 2009 11:06 pm

Hi ,
Sorry if my title sounds like insane, but im in a situation to buy a gun for safe guarding my dogie, I have doberman and he's just 1.5 years old. the problem is some street dogs always eyeing to bite it, and the other major problem is beneath my home every night there are some two to three owls shouting disturbing the sleep.

Can you guys tell me a good cheap and best air guns that doesn't need a license and are all coming under 4000 RS [ which if possible have a bold look :D ]
What site should i buy and how about the courier process is that delivered to my home just like some gadgets that we use to buy online ? or should it passes authorization from local police stations ? What about its precision and range ?
Please tell me in detail i would really appreciate your time involved.

Thanks very much awaiting for your replies :)

Now , a few things you absolutely need to get straight.

It is illegal to shoot owls,or any other birds except crows, no matter if they are disturbing your sleep. It can land you in a lot of trouble. And not a humane thing to do.

About dogs, not an ideal and humane thing to do which again can land you in legal trouble.Apart from that, please give a thought to the suffering you will be causing to the dogs by lead poisoning, infections and gangrene. There are other ways of protecting your dog and your sleep. Not by shooting them.If this is your only purpose of buying an air rifle, then please don't.You will be doing a favour to yourself and avoid a lot of trouble. If you like to learn target shooting and then graduate into firearms, please go through the forums, educate yourself and then come up with your questions. We will be happy to help.

Best-
Vikram

Thanks Vikram, i have no intentions of shooting both of them, as i cant even think of throwing stones on dogs since i also own a dog.
I thought Air Rifles will make some big noise while shooting which i thought can be used to get rid of them.
Does it make sound while shooting or not ?

Actually i need Gun anyway :)
From the childhood im interested in collecting guns so far all are toy guns so i thought of having my first footstep in air rifles.
i love to have Gun and please also tell me how to involve in target shooting the reason i didn't mentioned in my first post is that im not sure how much time i can dedicate myself into it as im working online minimum 17 hours / day.
Are there any instruments i can buy to practice in my home's terrace ?
But brother believe me i desperately need a gun :)
Please educate me on the best guns available for a beginner within 4K.

For 4k, you can get a IHP Mod 35. Its is decent rifle for a casual plinker.
And please do not shoot dogs.

Visit aimco.co.in to buy ihp mod 35 or any other.
And in mumbai, some guys have been arrested for shooting nuts of the stray dogs.

To deal with strays, it's best to carry a riding crop (even a stick will do)... usually a wave in the air will succeed in shooing them off, and no one gets hurt in the process either! As to choice of airgun for casual plinking (within the stated budget), swordfish and pravin have already given you the best options...

Cheers!

I will definitely not shoot them that's a promise and i seriously not that type of person.
I browsed through aimco.co.in and seems like Air Rifles Product: model 200 5.5mm would best fit for me because of its very economical price ;)
Can any one tell me what is the range of it ? and just to make sure that im supposed to order this from Amico.co.in and start using this without getting any license or authorization right ?
Will this gun can be used for enjoying target shooting ?

Please also tell me a comparison of power and range between blanca airpistols(7th one on http://www.aimco.co.in/products.php ) and the one i decided ( 9th one on http://www.aimco.co.in/products.php )
Thanks a ton in advance :)

which ever gun you buy,
shoot with it at wood plate for power test.
Also carry out some accuracy test on ring targets.

and post it here with pictures if possible.
It will be handy for others while buying the same gun.

For the dogs:

Animal control and a small gratiuity for 'chai pani' will be a lot cheaper, safer and effective.

As for the Owls.. well noise does not worry them. It really is a sound easy to ignore.

For shooting targets, I think you have adequate advice.

Not sure if the post is late, but 200 is not great model, having one for 2 years I feel you should skip the model. It failed in the first 3 months. The cocking mechanism screwed up, thanks to Dlrs Ulgaditmath Bangalore, got it repaired for free.
1) Cocking mechanism failure
2) stock damage due to break barrel hiiting in during this fail.
3) bolts and rivets in metal pieces come out.
4) nuts holding the stock came loose.

Cosidering an IHP would be the best idea.. faced far less issues with the same.
Also if you have time for the bits to be worked on,inlcuding the weight balancing(i used lead blocks in stock) its alright go ahead.
You would never feel te gun not powerful enough, its good, sounds good as well.
Sights are bad, and no rails provided as well. Peep hole sucks..
