My IOF 30-06...Test results @ 100!!

Here are a few pictures of some cosmetic changes....the schnabel's whittled down to something that's easier on my eyes with a small "widow's peak" underneath, a little fluting on the RH side of the grip makes it feel better and a little more definition to the heel...so far its shaping up decently..more pics as it progresses...

Nice work and I will be following the progress avidly like others. I was thinking you were going to restock it with a walnut blank like the ones you put up on sale.Thanks for sharing.

Is there avaliblity of waulnut blanks in India , any contact of person selling it .

Thank you Vikram! The American Black walnut blanks that were up for grabs are gone now, I have some African Teak also called Ghana Teak which I plan to use someday, the figure on those pieces of wood are very, very pretty and its a tight-grained and dense piece of lumber too, quite friendly to work with.

The scope will be a 1.5-5x20 on a set of weaver QR rings, the bases (weaver-type) will be custom-made for this rifle with a adjustable back-up aperture when the glass comes off. The wood IOF used for the stock is Pine, its a real POS, the wood's so soft you can checker it with your fingernails!! :shock: I have plans for the stock, but I'm keeping them under wraps for now :wink:

Pine on a 30.06? Wonder how many rounds it will take to compress the wood against the action, that will not be good for accuracy.
Nice work on re contouring the stock, much smoother lines, you going to pillar bed as that may help with the soft wood.
