BLANCA air pistol

Post by tarzanboy73 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:51 am

One of my friends just gifted me a Blanca air pistol, I have never heard of one of these before....and unfortunately he left it with my folks so havent seen it yet. any idea what ammo this fires? .177? I own a commander air pistol and an air rifle called mod 35 which I got for my kids, which use the same air pellet. I dont know what calibre for sure. I threw away the cardboard box. :D .. Will the blanca use the same?

and also whats the difference bet a .177 air pellet and a .22 one( besides the calibre that is). Is one specially made for competition shooting? sorry to sound ignorant but have not been into airgunning seriously till now.......did ask some silly questions about CO2 pistols also earlier :D

Real .22 ammo is huge compared to the air gun pellets I have seen!!!!Is the .22 pellet also that big!!!!

I hang my head in shame that after firing soooooo many weapons of different calibres....i dont know the basics of airgunning.....lol

cheers

Shame on you tarjan shahib...

.22 in air-gun parlance refers simply to the bore. The difference in .177 and .22 pellets would essentially be size.

I think the Commander and blanca are the same...

http://www.aimco.co.in/

and its in .22

Pretty lame affair other than the looks. Mostly a casual plinker. Most I've seen, end up with a mortar-like trajectory in a couple of months... you can actually see the pellet in flight!

As far as I know there's only one manufacturer that makes 'competition' grade airguns. Its IHP... http://www.indianhumepipe.com/index1.html

They have a co2 pistol and rifle as well.

My turn to blush

Funny about the site too.... since the description beside it says 5.5/22... :!:

I suppose by blanca you mean the one that vaguely resembles the 1911? I was actually referring to that one.

Anyway .177 or .22 it shouldn't cause too much headache to the brigade quartermaster at home should it?

By the way, I'm glad you are getting your kids started up early on shooting. Keep it up and teach them well.

Hi Tarzanboy,
I had used a Blanca Air pistol once, in .177 Cal. It was very flimsy. You can see other opinions of the forum members here;

Thanks,

ROTFL
Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I have a blanca air pistol. Bought it last month for Rs.2000. Fired only 100 shots. Anyone interested in buying it? Price Rs.1700. Negotiable. If anyone's interested, email me at [email protected].
