Well, both the IOF and Taurus are based on a generic S&W layout so its probably going to be a matter of opinion.

Thanks tarzan anyway for the useful insight.

... and of course one can contemplate on the results of trying to fire .22Magnum in an IOF revolver!!

I am planning to buy one shortly, so I hope it is. But after reading the earlier threads.....am not too sure. I just hope I get lucky.

Do read earlier posts IOF .22 has had serious issues its more prudent to purchase .32 caliber IOF firearm. I own a .22 Browning Bucksmark pistol and its very finicky to the ammo its fed.

I have been through the earlier posts Gary, may I call u that, all Grewals in the forces are Gary

. U r right, the .32 seems to be a better option...but the charm of a really small revolver is something else!!!I suppose as long I can get the rounds out if required even from a .22, it should be ok. whaddya say?

Fire a full cylinder of KF .22 LR ammo through the IOF "thingy" , ensure a flawless extraction of the spent shells , then see if you still want to buy it .

Regarding the IOF .22 revolver being a copy of the Taurus Model 941 is just a case of wishful thinking. The Taurus is .22 magnum and there is absolutely no comparison apart from a swing out cylinder that both these revolvers have, mind you there have been reports of the cylinder of IOF .22 revolver becoming loose and falling off after repeated use. Really small revolver ?? It is not !

The Doc is right. Not only kf ammo but also elly shells get stuck after firing all 8 rounds continuously. You have to wait for a couple of minutes for the cylender to cool down before u can extract the spent shells. Thats my personal experience.

." No problem and you are right that was my nick name in the college too LOL.

Avoid the .22 IOF rather go for any of the .32 IOF guns.
Maybe the legal eagles here can clarify but cant the defense personnel own prohibted bore guns say a 9mm or .38 revolver? I was wondering with your back ground its worth the effort tackling the babudom.

BTW incidentally in US I was junior to relative of MARCOs officer who won the MVC in Sri Lanka.

Gary u r right, we r allowed to hold a PB firearm. The problem is the long waiting period to be issued one.I hope to get one before I retire

. I know of people who have applied more than 10 yrs ago, but no luck...lets see.

and yes, I know who u r talking about. Was my 'Boss' for a couple of tenures.....u understand that I would not like reveal his name here on the forum, or tell u his location....

ps... call me obstinate.....but if u can get 8 rounds out without a hitch......wheres the problem....i suppose u would need to reload only in a sustained combat sit....and if the oppos have anything in long u r screwed anyway....

Thats a good decision now its pistol vs revolver?

If the .22 was a safe and unrelibale gun then those 8 shots justify the choice but on flip side who wants a lemon on hands or a la 'Loose' gun.

Do turn in the papers for your PG gun but cant you buy one from a dealer they should be cheap compared to others?

Its alright regarding the officer I saw his photograph on another forum.

I have applied for the PB but will get a license only after am issued one. so cant buy through a dealer. Always wanted a six shooter so revolver it will be.{Clint Eastwood, in all those sphagetti westerns....

}I read in the thread speed loaders are available for the .32....so speed of reload shouldnt be a problem.

I beg to differ slightly with Abhijeet. The Grip of an IOF revolver is something that will not fail you in your life time atleast. Rest of it I wouldn't vouch for.
