Thats a lot for such a revolver. Granted its the best option available in India but asking almost $1600-1700 on this is still a rip off. I had to think many times buying a handgun worth even $1000 here in US.

Yes, civilian self defense firearms market in India is monopolized by government. A lot of awareness needs to be done among Indians to make government get out of this restrictive trade practice.

Its not a restrictive trade practice...its plain unfair and dishonest in my book.

Its the policy to sell IOF products at super high premiums...oh well, we all have rued about it but its not going to make any difference ..

according to the field gun kanpur website now the prevailing price of .32 iof rev is 82,512/-.

I am getting my revolver from FGK on 10 Sep. Does anyone have the contact for the middle men at Kanpur who can obtain a TL without me having to go there a day early.

And no need to reach Kanpur a day before . This Ram Singh will meet you at railway station and will arrange all required papers . Will get you revolver in the afternoon shift , and you can board the returning train the same day.

What I think (the decesion is wise or not) It's matter of personal choice, as we Indians are helpless for choosing and importing.
Acctually pistol is very much more powerfull (Ballisticaly).Pistol is more comfotable to take aim .
On the other side Rifling in IOF Revolver is big concern , depth of rifling is very less and it vanishes with passage of time.

Waiting period for pistol is 12 months and for revolver is less than 1 month.

taking liberty of intervining in your textual conversation i'd like to inform that the iof 32 rev. is now available within 35 days of demand draft date at FGK(40 days at SAF kanpur,i confirmed both places on telephone before applying) but the DD must be of full amount Rs.82512/-. The revolver being supplied is a MARK 3.Ihave personally applied for it and got a conformation from FGK on its track your order site.
The site reads:
