Re: She is finally here : The Crosman 2100 Classic
Manish: That scope (Legend) looks ridiculous on the rifle. It's bad enough that the rifle does not fit the little tyke but you are now asking him to support more weight. Get that scope off and let him use the open sights. Remember, the rifle is meant for him, not you!
Your delay in replying turned out to be a good thing (just don't make it a habit ). It finally got me refurbishing two old Dianas (mod. 22 & 25D) a friend had given me. The 22 is up and running and the boys have been enjoying themselves tremendously. The 25D needs a lot more work but should be ready in another ten days time. Then both boys will have an air-rifle of their own.
Please get that Hubble scope off the Crosman. It's not good for young children to bear such weight, especially when it is unbalanced.

That's pretty much when I started shooting as well, and in similar conditions. A terrace, a large box filled with sand for a backstop with a wall behind it. 7 and 10? What better ages to start. Well done gentlemen.

Your pics will help in an education campaign at our end, where the little one thinks very highly of real world snipers and their optical equipment.
Does the younger Junior Mack The Knife always shoot from a rest as seen in the pic ?
And perhaps a close picture of the pellet trap ?
Thanks

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Re: She is finally here : The Crosman 2100 Classic
Manish,
My younger son, Shane, started shooting yesterday. His elder brother began a day earlier. Shane was shooting freehand and rested. He wanted to try kneeling as well, so I let him try that as well. The pellet trap is a shoe box filled with old magazines and a large wall behind it. However, most of the shooting was done at a couple of tin cans. Shane is still shooting from a maximum of 7 metres whilst Shubaair is now hitting the cans at twice that range.
Feel free to use the pics. As you can see, both boys have been taught to keep a hold on the cocking lever (in this case it is the barrel) whilst loading and not to touch the trigger till such time as they are aiming at the target.
Will type out all the safety rules I have written down for them but now I must run as I am taking the boys for a plinking session at a friends place, where they will shoot alongside their seniors.
Have a fun Sunday with your little sniper.

Great
Vibhav already knows
No pointing guns at anyone
No finger on the trigger till sights are on target
Most importantly, No touching guns without asking for permission.

Crosman 2100 Classic fps test
No.of pumps - fps
=================
10 - 728
9 - 703
8 - 687
7 - 661
6 - 641
5 - 596
4 - 548
3 - 471
It was not at all hard to pump it to 10 pumps for me. May get tiring if I have to do it repeatedly though.
Pellets were Diana Shot wad cutters, possibly 8. something grain. Glad to see advertised fps.
Four pumps is the sweet spot. Vibhav is on a roll.

Re: Crosman 2100 Classic fps test
I used gsmith rounheads .177, I forget what they are called with my 2100, they stay resonably stable at high speed (ten pumps). Congrats I had missed this thread.fantumfan2003 wrote:No.of pumps - fps

Dev,
Thank you. One question. What is the substitute for pellgun oil ?
I read on Network54.com that it was nothing but 30 grade non detergent oil.
Believe its used in cars. What did you use for lubing your 2100 ? what lubing schedule did you follow ?
Please let me know
Thanks
Manish
