Where to buy Hunting or survival knives in delhi ....

Post by Bowie » Wed Jan 23, 2008 12:59 am

Hello guys

Can You tell me ,Where can i buy good Hunting knives in delhi...
I tried in karol bagh/gaffar market but no use..2 years back I bought a knife of blade length 5 inches but it fell down accidently and i could not believe that the plastic handle broke into 2 pieces. I then made a wooden handle and got it fitted into the blade. It worked very well and still in a good condition.
The same shopkeeper now does not keep stuff like that , he says.
Can anyone of you help ..?

Thanx
Bowie

Bowie- first try Olly :) ;)

Depends on how much of 'drawer queen' status these knives will have.
I would not want to use one of these palika bazar stuff for anything more serious than impressing the girlfriend-Also, the weird and 'macho' designs would get you into trouble with the Police,if carried on person and /or the car.
Suggest you search around , finalise your choice of knife/ intended usage/ material and budget and order off the net.
While the 'survival' school of thought has its proponents , i would be very happy with a 2 knife set up-a sub 4 inch STRONG blade, even if its a folder, and a multitool, for a survival situation

Joy,

I do not see many models of Buck on your website. Are these the only ones you carry or do you have the entire variety?

Though they have a very wide variety, it will be great if you can get some fixed blades like that Buck Short Nighthawk Knife with OD Handle and Nylon Sheath and the Woodsman.

If you can get on order, i would like to have a Short Nighthawk.

Victorinox, in India has mainly multi-tools.... however, till some time ago, they did offer their Kirpan to us... and that was a very very good knife... with an inscription 'Deg, Tegh, Fateh' written in Punjabi...

It comes with a wearable sheath...

I'll post a picture of it here for all to see...

Olly,

It is not sharpened. Also there was a smaller version of it as well.More for ceremonial purposes.I am sure it can be sharpened.

Degh Tegh Fateh Degh-cauldron/kettle(to feed the needy)tegh-sword(to fight the oppressor) ,fateh-victory.Taken together the literal meaning is " Victory through the cauldron and the sword".

And after sharpened if you can cut wood other than pine? I wonder!!!

Usually, the steel that are used for professional knife usually very different than fancy one. Also fancy knifes are not tempered.

I have seen similar looking knife in local china shop and they are imported from China!! I am sure this one too! Probably they are good for using as a baton :p
