Re: Applying for an Arms License in India
Ok!!
I am new to this forum and i have some doubts
I was working for a company and its a project firm doing some project in India and outside
presently in the northeast corner of India near to Bangladesh. also wil be transfered to any other sites ina Assam or Arunachal or even Kashmir. I am thnkng of obtaing an arms license as we are outsiders wrkng in those places and we r he representatives of the company. So we got lfe thrtenings from Local people and Mafia. (We cnt make it a police case elsewise as it will affest the project). So if this will be an excuse fro obtainig a National arms license and if so please in form the further aspects.
Thanks & Cheers

Re: Applying for an Arms License in India
You don't need help from any friendly & influential person(s), just follow the procedure outlined in the previous pages (on this thread)... furthermore, no one can give you a guarantee as to whether or not the license will be issued, but if you follow the proper procedure your chances are just as fair as anyone else's.24frames wrote:Hello I am a upcoming Film Director & Cinematographer from Chennai . Re: Applying for an Arms License in India
every business man in North East and every other citizen gets threats, this is the wrong reason for getting arms, since you can not go to the police with the threats, thus you can not prove that you need an arm for protection.raghavrem wrote:Ok!!

what concerns me that why would you take up arm against well armed and mean Mafia? who would waste you without thinking about twice.
you say that you get life threats from the local people? what have you done to upset the local people? local people do not make threats in general unless you have done something wrong? as there are many non locals in the NE and J&K who do quit well without arms.
i don't know where you are coming from but i am be gaining to dislike where you are headed.
no offense meant.

Re: Applying for an Arms License in India
Write back to the Arms Division telling them that you intend to retain your fathers arms and that you have applied for a license to do the same. Also, the firearms can't be confiscated without the licensing authority passing a speaking order[Section 21(4)(5)&(6)] which can be challenged in a judicial court.Have a look at Rule 46 of the Arms Rules,1962,which would make the picture clearer for you.doctor wrote:hi all,

Besides this, give an application to the DCP licensing stating that you father owned 2 firearms and that you intend to hold them as you have inherited them and that he should grant you a license to enable you to retain them.It gets a bit more complicated beyond that.
1.If your father has left all his property to you through a registered will, then attach a copy of that along with your application along with a copy of the license of your late father, a copy of the receipt of the arms having been deposited and of the Death Certificate of you late father.
2.If you are not the sole legal heir, then you will have to attach affidavits of all the legal heirs of your father to the effect that they have no objection to your getting the firearms in your name besides the rest of the documents.
The firearms remain the property of the legal heirs of the deceased but have to be disposed off within a given time, either through sale or through transfer to the license/s of the heir/s.If however, there is a valid reason for the arms not being disposed off within the given period, this delay is ignored/overlooked/condoned.
In Punjab at least,it is pretty easy for the legal heir/s to get license/s for the deceased's firearm/s

i was told that all licenses process are postponed because of election code of conduct
here in mumbai , the arms application is processed at four different places ,
when you apply for an arms license the file from the arms department is forwarded to the local DCP HQ from where it goes to the local police station which asses your threat perception and it files a report whether there is a threat or not this report is sent to the local DCP HQ from here it is forwarded to the next level which is the DCP arms HQ which again process your request and then forwards it to the CP, the CP is the last and final authority to grant or reject the application.
1}does the inheritance law applies to the arms owned for more than 20 yrs ?
2) if the license is applied for display is the weapon deactivated.
if yes how is it deactivated
thanks doctor

Re: Applying for an Arms License in India
It seems that the Delhi Police - Licensing Branch is now all set to issue a new license booklet format, only for shooters. The new license booklets will have a provision for up to 10 firearm endorsements and also be thicker (more blank pages) than the standard arms license booklets. This information is courtesy IFG member amit888_2000 who was at the licensing branch today.
Amit, thank you for keeping everyone here posted

.32 Revolver
Hi..
I had applied for a licence of .32 Revolver, after local police verification as OK, Police Commission of Ahmedabad, denied on the date of interview. then, i moved to the State Home Department for appeal. I am likely to be heard on the next month, lets see..dont think reseult could be positive. and if so, i will have to move to the High Court.
Do you have a contact number/name of any advocate who could help me in this case.
Regards,
Jashwantsinh.

Re: .32 Revolver
Hi..thanks for reply,
You see, normally, when CP rejects or deny, they dont give a clear-cut reason. instead write that reason for
application for weapon doesn't seems fair..that's it. Applied for a weapon (.32 Revolver) for personal safety as
i have hugh amount of cash while moving in the market for business. I am a member of Local Rifle Club. weapon
not applied for target shooting.

Jashwantsinh.
