While surfing the net, I stumbled upon interesting information about big bore air rifle, reportedly bringing down a Bison & air machine guns!

Given the stringent "License" raj for firearms in India, what about using big bore air rifle or air machine gun as home defense

Goodboy, I doubt if any of these would pass the deal wood test... hence would be considered firearms and:
a) Be banned from import
b) Require you to have them entered on an arms license
These air-machine gun plans have been floating around for a while and IIRC they were discussed on another thread out here. However, so far no one seems to have been able to use these plans to build a working model...
Cheers!

P.S. I just searched the forums and found the earlier thread on air-machine guns http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1652 Check it out goodboy_mentor, you may find the discussion interesting

FX do a series of semi auto PCP rifles. Again, the legality of such in India is questionable. Plus, not sure how much a full FAC pellet will deter an attacker, will certainly p*ss him off though. (since you wanted these for home defence). Also, even in America, a big bore Boar (love the sound of the words)hunting air rifle is a customised affair well in excess of $3000.
I think there are cheaper legal home defence alternatives, like a licensed shotgun in India.

Thanks to everyone for reply. I was just curious, if there was any alternative to firearm "license". After reading the response it appears, there isn't one except either be happy with "traditional", rather household arms like iron rod/ hammer/big knife/big screw driver etc for home defense or apply for 12 bore shotgun "license"

Come on its not 3000$. except quackenbush air rifles other are company made and not custom most of them are from Korea. plus the range on a .50 shin gun or quackenbush is far better and well beyond 100 mtrs. to bringer a lower caliber like a .22 career air gun which fire a shot 3 time faster that a .22 fx revolution cartridge would be easier if u are bringing it in your luggage. it will cost u about 500 to 600$ not 3000$ .
