I forgot to mention money I spent for Walther CP99.I paid $249/- to Pyramydair and $15/- to
bank for wire transfer charges ,total $264/-thats approx.13000/-INR.If I add the amount of
rifle club membership fee, even though it does'nt cross 20000/-INR.I think instead of buying
from here(India) its easy and cheaper to import from U.S..

Okay my experience is if its a .177 air pistol that walks, talks and sqauks like a target pistol you are in no trouble. Customs will inspect it and politely send it to your house. Mine was for about $345, so I think they didn't even charge duty.
From which I infer that it is the same rule as when you travel overseas, your duty free limit on goodies is Rs.20,000.
I hope that clears the air for you. It is safe to import a.177 by post from what I know. If anyone has imported a.22 please report.

I am planning to import a crosman 1077 air rifle to chennai. I am not a member of any air rifle club. It says in this forum tat only memebers of any air rifle club are allowed to import rifles. So wat are my options ???

1) Request some friends returning from abroad to carry air gun as personal baggage
2)Look into sale forum
3)locate a Gun dealer who can get your requirement(but always 100% more than what you see online)

4.) Ask a friend who is a rifle club member to import it for you. I don't think there should be a problem if he gifts it to you once he imports it .

Hi All.
This is for those looking to import more than one rifle/pistol in one calendar year through the courier route- I know there is no mention of quantity of rifles allowed and so I went ahead and got two shipments in using FedEx - the first was end Jan and the second third week Feb! Besides the Daisy 853 in the first one and the Crosman 1377 in the second I got a whole lot of other shooting supplies including a dozen tins of pellets,all kinds lubes,shooters case, rifle rest,rifle and pistol cases,scope mounts,red dot sight ,shooters glasses,etc etc etc...all that I gave the customs(FedEx) besides the usual docs was a letter addressed to the Asst Commissioner besides stating my reason of import ... "I am sure, that with the support and understanding of individuals like yourself we shall have a lot of young shooters who will do our country proud!"......seemed to work! all I paid over and above FedEx was INR 90/-!...

Guys,
New regulations at postal customs as of last week. Met a girl who has imported a FWB-700, wooden stock. She was asked to go to the commissioner's office, arms section and and get them to certify the air rifle: is.177 caliber, and not a firearm. The procedure is the same as getting it at the airport/cargo, except that the comm.office is about 2km from the museum road sub-post office in Bangalore. No customs duty was levied and no window delivery at the sub-foreign post office.The post man delivered it home four days later. Whole procedure took about 10 days.
When asked, the guys told her that the new rules are as of 1st April 2009...... Shankar.

Please don't buy a 1077, it's not worth all the effort. These are plastic rifles which aren't built to last. Plus the trigger and the power aren't anything to write home about. If you want a semeblance of accuracy go for a 2100 or one of the Benjamin Sheridan series. Your options are what the other guys on the board have stated.

Dear Friends,
Just brought in an air arms S410 SL Extra FAC.(for my son) by USPS.
The parcel reached Kolkata Foreign Post Office in 23 days.I recieved a letter from the Asst. Commisionar of Customs on the 26th day, asking me to produce documents supporting the import. I was out of Kolkata, but anticipating the pacel, had left the follwing papers at Kolkata with an employee of my office.
1 Rifle club Membership I.D. card.
2 Letter from Rifle club confirming my membership.
3 Copies of customs notifiations, from this site.
4 Copy of a Clarification letter from P.R.O. Customs,confirming the above notifications.
5 A declaration that it was for my personal use.

The papers were hand delivered to F.P.O.
In 3 days time, the parcel was delivered to my house.

Freight charges- $125
Baught from-Topairgun.
Duty Charged-Nil.
One extra magazine and a single loader tray was included in the parcel.

It was as smooth as Fedex( previous Couriers for HW 77 MKII)
Fedex- $120 more/15 Days.
USPS- less costly,30 days.
I feel, importing a .177 is not a big problem.
