Airgun Pellets problem.

Post by velind » Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:43 pm

Greetings!

I have an Aimco Mod 50 .22 airgun. I tried using the G.Smith & Co High Speed pointed pellets (Caliber .22 , Round box with blue label) When I load the pellet in the airgun, 1.5 mm of the pellet sticks out of the airgun and when I close the barrel, the sticking out part of the pellet ends up like a thin washer(like a semi closed C shape) which falls off when I open the barrel to load the next pellet. The recoil while using these pellets is more when compared to other makes.

I did not see this issue when i used Marshal Shot pellets which were marked as "CAL 5.6mm".

Is this normal or is there any problem with the G.Smith & Co pellets. When I measured the pellets with a vernier, the rear end of the pellets had a dia of 6 mm and the head was 5.5 mm.

I am now buying a National 35 .22 from Aimco and would like to know if I will face the same problem with G.Smith & Co pellets (I am planning to buy the combo pack of assorted pellets from Aimco)

Thanks.
Jay.

Hi jay,

Gsmith is a tad bit tight for IHP and all the Indian make Air rifle. Where as they are perfect for the foreign Air rifle. I faced the same problem but other way round. I have Diana 35 .22 when I load Master shot export quality pellets they were too loose as when I tilt the rifle while loading the pellet would fall off, however when I used the Gsmith they were perfect Fit.

Try using the Master Shot pellets if you are buying the IHP .22 For IHP .177 the Gsmith pellet works well however for .22 it is tight. I believe it is all because of the confusion with 5.5 and 5.6

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks for the info. A quick question - Where do I get the Master Shot pellets ? Could not locate them on the Aimco website. There is an item named United Shot instead.

Would you suggest going for the IHP .177 with G.Smith pellets instead ?

Thanks.
Jay.

United Shot is useless pellets not at all worth it. Master Shot is not sold in the Aimco Site. You need to check out some of the gun dealers in Hyderabad... Master Shot Export quality is pretty decent, and goes very well with IHP .22.

Buddy you need to decide on the caliber of the Rifle as .22 or .177 depending on what is your basic requirement.

Chris

Hey Chris,

I will be going for the IHP .22 as I am getting a Diana 34P .177 later on.

Can you give me the address of the shops in bangalore selling Master Shot and also the pricing?
Will try to get them directly from Bangalore as I feel the prices in Hyderabad are on the higher side.
(I paid Rs. 160/- for a box of 200 pellets - G.Smith make .22 pointed)

PS: Seen your previous thread on the Master Shot vs G.Smith pellets. Was pretty informative.

Thanks.
Jay.

Ya it is expensive if you have paid 160 for 200 Pellets. If you want Gsmith go to KOVI SHOP 080-26588485 the pointed ones in .22 are called HIGH SPEED and should cost you around 100. for a tin of 200 pellets.

If you want Master Shot Export Quality get in touch with Asian Armoury 080-22235451 the Domed 500 Pellets Pack should cost you around 150. If you get the domed ones please get a couple of paket as not all the gun shops keep the Master Shot Export Quality.

Ya learnt from trial and errors and learning from the error

Cheers,

Chris

Checked with Asian and they have the stock of the Master Shot Export Quality round heads which i presume is the Domed pellets. Buying two boxes today.

Purchased two boxes of Master Shot Domed and one box of pointed. Landing at hyderabad tomorrow morning.
Also ordered a IHP national 35 .22 from Aimco.
Will update you all on how things go.

Thanks to Chris for the advice.

You could have checked for United Shot Super Quality Pellets at Aimco which is a new launch & hope it will definitely fulfill your requirements.
Thanx
