Vikram,

The Indian made airpistols are literally useless. A waste of money buying them. Try to pick up an IHP pistol. The one used for 10m shooting. Good accuracy and value for money too. You will find more info about them on the site.

I saw the sales section, the air pistols are totally out of my budget.I think they are
some where between 30k to 65k.

You can try IHP Pistols They are OK and you can have good fun with it. However you would require to upgrade to a better pistol later for competition..

Check out in the Aimco site for IHP Pistols http://www.aimco.co.in

regards,

Chris

Hi guys i have recently developed this strong passion for target shooting. I started with those small BB pistols u get in shops for around 70RS/-.... It didn take a long time for me to realize that i was wrong!!!.

For past few days i have been searching online about air guns. Now i have decided that i m going to buy an air Rifle. My budget is 5000/-Rs. I'm LIVING IN "CHENNAI". Can anybody help me by providing me with any dealers address or where i can find them.

Also i would prefer my rifle to BE A REPEATER rather than an single shot. Is it possible to get one in Chennai, atleast in INdia... Please enlighten me guys!!!...

In India, they don't get manufactured and with the current import act no dealer legally can keep. However you can get it with a huge premium from some amateur sellers. Check in the sell section.

Well sankar. First, i must tell u tat i m not a professional shooter , atleast i m not wanting to be one. Right from the age 9 ( as far as i remember ) i wanted an air rifle. Remember the balloon shooting stalls at the marina beach, tats where this passion began. Now, i need a hobby which can pop out the tension after monotonous work and tats where shooting targets fits in. I live in the outskirts of the city. there's a lot of barren land near ma residence, which is devoid of any sort human intrusions. Thought i could practice shooting there with a target board.

NOW as for "why the Repeater air rifles" Here it goes...

I hate monotonicity, like... loading the gun after every shot. :o

Hmmm, well if all you intend to do is plink all day and want a repeater - why don't you think in terms of importing the IZH-Drozd Blackbird, with a bulk fill adaptor kit, paintball bulk tank etc. It's not very powerful, but is a semi-auto with 400 odd shots in the magazine and also has a 3 shot and 6 shot burst mode... should be a load of fun killing cans with it! ;)

Cheers!
Abhijeet

P.S. - It uses steel BB's and not pellets

Thanks for the advice mundaire. But u have got me wrong i do not intend to plink. I intend to develop a new skill during my free hours, i.e shooting, on my own. i always admire guys who shoot bulls eye into the 50m targets. There is around 20 - 30 acres of barren land around my house ( oww!!! i dont own them!!! lolz), i can make a target board and hang it on a tree or stick it out on a pole and practice. There is only one air rifle club in chennai and they charge 40,000- 1,00,000 for membership, which i can't afford.
I think i need a air rifle for my purpose. My budget is 5000/- i can extend it to 7000/- at the max.

I found this gun to suit my budget. its name is crosman 1077 ( 66$ in pyramid air) . Its a 12-shot repeater which operates on 12-gm co2 catridges.it shoots .177 pellets at 625ft/s. If i can get any refillable 12gm catridges then it will be more economical. i was hoping if any of u guys can help me out.

Are you sure the Chennai rifle Club charges 40K to 1lac. As the Membership in NRAI is 21k Lifetime, and NRAI is far more superior to any of the rifle club in India. Please go to the chennai rifle club's office and find out, as asking any tom dick and harry would give you wrong information.

Cheers,
Chris
