Bought it: Hammerli made .22 PPK

Post by amk » Thu Mar 26, 2009 4:29 pm

PeopleSSS, I have bought this Hammerli made .22 LR PPK. It is in SUPERB condition. Looks and feels brand new.

I test fired around 12 shots (9 IOF + 3 Phoren) before purchasing without any problem. I'll give a range report next week after trying CCI mini mags and stingers.

Edit: Some more

Cheers, AMK

Congratulations on your new purchase :)

If I were you I'd stick to standard velocity ammo for the PPK...

Cheers!

Why do you say that Abhi? I was told on other Walther forums High and Hyper Velocity would be ok as the frame, slide etc. were made for .32 and .380 ammo so .22 LR HV should be fine. Should I avoid it still? What about for carry purposes?

What about KF ammo, is it ok to use it for plinking? The dealer said Indian ammo tends to foul up a lot and there are cases where the rifling and/or barrels have been damaged. Should I avoid it or is it all just a hoax?

Anyone know who has and is selling spare mags for a .22 PPK? A Pistol feels incomplete with just a single mag.

Ta,

amk,
It's no use buying a new Merc and then trying to run it on kerosene. Please use good imported ammo and your confidence in this pistol will never wane. K.F. is okey for informal plinking I guess but a strict no no otherwise. I own a PPK/S in the same caliber and am talking out of experience. If it's as new as you say it is,then it may need some "break in" time. Say around 500 rnds. She will get as smooth as silk there after.

Marksman, for carry I'll use some nice imported jacketed ammo that works well with it, need to test it thoroughly. For range plinking KF ammo is no good?

Thanks everyone. As for the price, lets just say it cost me significantly more than my last Charter Arms revolver

amk,
i saw your posts in the other walther forum ...so I have a indication of the price. :D :D :D It is high time that the exim policy is challenged and we can import our own new guns at a affordable price..
