Air Rifle by "Air Force"

Post by marksman » Wed Mar 25, 2009 8:50 pm

To all,
I saw and handled an Air Rifle called Air Force. It was a 5.5mm air rifle that works either with compressed air 300 bar max. or Nitrogen. At its full capacity which again is adjustable by way of a rotating dial, this rifle delivers more then 1200fps. It had an Air Force 4-12 x riflescope equipped with BDC and AOL sitting on it and a laser sight as well. A deadly unconventional looking combo. Must say I was very impressed but the people unfamiliar with weapon system could easily mistake it for a high power sniper rifle. I think this particular model is called Trident or Tudor or something. It's made in the U.K. Has anybody come across this system? It was a joy to handle it though.BTW, it also had a sound suppressor and inter changeable barrel system. Can be changed to .177,.20 or 5.5mm.

Marksman,

I think you are referring to the "Condor", they also have a slightly lower powered model called the "Talon". The Talon also has a sub-model called the Talon SS which has an integral moderator shroud built onto the rifle, much like the AirArms TX 200. They are built in USA and are considered to be pretty "good bang for the buck" especially when compared to the more expensive European PCP air-rifles. You can see their entire range at http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/show. ... r=AirForce

Yep, you are right they are almost infinitely customisable, with several options for barrel length, calibre, you can simply change the air-tank and convert a Condor into a Talon and vice versa, you can also change the tank and convert to CO2 (for lesser power but many many more shots per fill), etc.

A Condor with a custom tuned trigger would certainly be a sweet air-rifle to own... :)

Cheers!

I've read a lot of people have troubles with the Condor's valve. The Talon seems a better bet. Take the basic Talon in .22, with its 18" barrel. It will give about 20ft/pd shots at high-power. Swap the barrel for a 24" and it gives 40ft/pd, more than enough for us all, I guess. The feeling I get from reading about Air Force guns, is that they've been designed as a platform for the huge range of expensive Air Force accessories. The guns themselves seem to be a 'tinkerer's' dream. Not sure if 'out of the box' they're so reliable. They're cheap ($500 for the Talon) compared to European air guns, and the finish and tolerances probably reflects this. It's not a Weihrauch, but if you're mechanically minded, you would probably love the Air-Force rifles.
